The Georgia women’s tennis team wrapped up day one of the UT Fall Invite with three doubles wins and six singles wins against Vanderbilt and Tennessee, respectively.
The Bulldogs began the day with doubles against Vanderbilt where on court two, Katarina Jokic and Ariana Arseneault breezed through their match, getting the quick 6-0 sweep over Marcella Cruz and Holly Staff. On court three, it was Morgan Coppoc and Marta Gonzalez taking on Amanda Meyer and Dasha Kourkina, beating them 6-1. Meg Kowalski and Ania Hertel rounded out the doubles tandems on court one facing off against Anessa Lee and Emma Kurtz completing the doubles sweep of the Commodores with a 6-1 win.
Later in the day, Georgia squared off against Tennessee in singles. Jokic was first to finish her match with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Carly Briggs on court one. On court two, Kowalski finished a 6-0, 6-0 win over Daria Kuczer and Gonzalez finished right behind her with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Esther Adeshina. Hertel on court six defeated Tenika McGiffin 6-2, 6-2. Alee Clayton defeated Callie Creath 7-6(4), 6-3 on court seven. Coppoc, after falling in the first set, came back against Rebeka Martena to pick up the 0-6, 6-3, 6-2 win on court three. Arseneault was the lone loss for the Bulldogs, falling to Johanna Silve 6-2, 5-7, 7-5.
The Bulldogs continue play Saturday at the UT Fall Invite against Vanderbilt in singles at 12 p.m. and against South Carolina at 3 p.m. in doubles.
