Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

Smug ole dbag who didn’t make it in the NFL who came back to the college ranks to ruffle the feathers of another smug dbag that couldn’t make it in the NFL.

MMCSDAWG He’s sullying the jersey of the Home Run King (I do not recognize the fraudulent reign of Bonds).  I’d rather him shirtless.

My brother was an Apache pilot. Maybe we should buy one, hire my brother, and fire a round or two as we pass over the barn.

Greg Poole I know you said that Pittman and Chaney haven’t lost weight, but the recent pictures sure seem like the are not as huge as they were before taking the UGA gig.   Being stressed and unhappy at a place can add weight, and being happy and reenergized can help you shape up.    I really only care about their weight because I want them to be healthy, happy and long term UGA coaches.

Deerhuntingdawg If it were me, I would be up front with schools that wanted me to OV.  I would tell them I am committed to the G and nothing is going to change that, but if you want to show me a great time, I will OV.

That is basically what I see from most of these kids when they say they are still going to OV.  Compared to those that sign their LOI to place of “commit”, not that many flip.  It is also probably good to check out other locations incase something really dramatic came up – i.e. Baylor.

Agreed, some kids understand this and name a school as a “favorite”. Commitment is definetly not the appropriate term if they are continuing to take visits. It just the way of recruiting

PatriotVeteran  Your issue with the recruiting game is your insistence on applying your definition of the word “commitment.” Of course, you are perfectly free to do so but the reality is that neither the player nor the school is “committed” when the player makes a “commitment”. UGA has not locked itself into an unbreakable promise to this, or any other, kid when it accepts a commitment.
UGA does not stop recruiting at his position simply because he has issued a verbal commit. In many, if not most, cases the “commitment” is an intermediate step. Meaning something like “I like you best.”
Commitment is the wrong word to describe the status of a recruit rather than being evidence of some character flaw of the kid.

PatriotVeteran Why pass up on an opportunity to go see some great college football and be treated like a VIP?  I am happy for his commitment and I don’t mind the kids going out and enjoying some games.

Yesterday I praised WR Lambert for “Wanting to be a Dawg – since he Committed to the G “. Later I read another blog that said something to the effect ” but I’m still going to take my 5 OV’s and even mentioned the worse college as a OV,  Auburn”.
This is like a guy marrying his wife this Saturday (committing/taking a vow) than saying ” but I’m going to take  weekend visits with several ladies the next 5 weekends – to see if she matches up with some of my old flames”.   This don’t work for me.     If he Committed, he should be committed.     If he wants to take “5 OV’s” after committing to the G, than CKS should tell him his committed sucks and isn’t needed.     If a player is only seeking the Limelight and getting Special Attention, than this could prove he doesn’t truly want to play for UGA.    Keep his WR slot “Open” and let’s see if someone else wants to truly play for UGA.       I’d rather have NO commitment, than one that has “If’s or Maybe – I’ll stay committed, if I don’t find a better college to attend”.       UGA has a great team and I’m a UGA supporter, but if someone wants to go elsewhere, commit to them and let another great player come in and start for UGA in 2017.

ed603 Reddawg13 MMCSDAWG ZippyMorocco godawgs678 Me too! Age is the number of years that God has allowed us to be on this earth, how we react to those numbers is our true age!

Reddawg13 ed603 MMCSDAWG ZippyMorocco godawgs678  I thank God every single day that I wake up breathing…loving every minute of it!. My father in Law is 97 this year…caught him on an extension ladder cutting limbs with a chain saw! Wife had to confiscate all his ladders! His reply was, you all act like I’m too old to do anything…love the old codgers spirit!
