I haven’t heard anything about Rico McGraw, how’s he doin! Also, I hope we can give Mecole some reps on offense

Georgia football post-practice report, day 4, Live From Butts-Mehre by BD Illustrated ON AIR

Bulldawg Illustrated’s Greg Poole and Michael Pope discuss day 4 of Georgia’s fall camp with Dawg Time Magazine’s Patrick Garbin. Injury updates and much, much more!

JaxDawg Man it’s like this entire team has been physically transformed. Honestly, I’ve never seen anything like it. Whatever they’re paying our S&C coaches isn’t enough, because they’re miracle workers! Hope it translates to better on field performances.

DawgByte I expect Coach Tucker and his staff are looking for a solid 6 to 8 DBs to play a lot. Would not be surprised for Roundtree to push to be in that group.

  5. DawgByte

Michael Pope BTW, Riley Ridley also looks pumped up from the Spring. This S&C coaching staff is working miracles on our guys.

  6. DawgByte

Have you guys seen a recent picture of Rashad Roundtree? Dang he’s pumped up. Looks more like a LB than a Safety. By the same token we need some big Safeties out there that can support the run and putt a licking on some WR’s.

Bulldawg Bob2 Julian Rochester is a big dude! We need him to come up strong for this DL.

Jason Butt’s take on John Atkins missing from practice from the Telegraph:

“Georgia defensive tackle John Atkins was not present for Thursday’s practice.

Atkins was present for Wednesday’s session, making it possible that he’s dealing with an injury that sidelined him. Georgia is already thin at linebacker, with Atkins being the lone junior on scholarship. During a pursuit drill shown Wednesday, Atkins was one of the top two defensive linemen.”

Michael Pope  Thanks for the update.

Does not surprise me at all that Chigbu is in the thick of the WR competition.

DawgByte valdostadawg80  I attribute Oregon’s rise in power in CFB more to the influx of money from Nike than the uniforms; although, for recruiting and from a marketing of the program’s brand standpoint, the uniforms have been a hit for the most part.

  11. 1mandawgpack

DawgByte valdostadawg80  Not to mention their significant recruiting violations, which were met with a less than appropriate response by the NCAA as Oregon is effectively a package deal with Nike, one of the largest names and sponsors in college football.  Penalize Oregon, penalize Nike, which is problematic as the NCAA has lost its objectivity due to the big business that NCAA sports has become.

Hey guys, I hope everyone is having a great day. Here’s just a few things that caught my eye today. For starters John Atkins was missing from practice today which only adds to the mystery of what his injury may be but the rumor as of right now is a hyper-extended knee. However, lets respond to this bad news with a hint of good news in that Javon Wims was back at it and took normal reps today. There’s no telling what may have been bothering him yesterday but it seems it was only minor and has no long term effects. We did not get a great look at the offense but it looks like the #1 and #2 wide receivers are Terry Godwin and Michael Chigbu and i’ll have a more extensive wide receiver depth chart in the story for tomorrow. Today Tracy Rocker seemed very pleased with his lineman and overall the vibe around practice was way more calm today than yesterday. It’s still very early but things are beginning to shape up at practice. Have a great day everyone!

DawgDaddy Bulldawg Bob2 Greg Poole  Don’t know. Just an unconfirmed, unofficial report that Atkins hyperextended his knee.

If it is a mild hyperextension, he could back for the North Carolina game or even as soon as a couple of weeks.

But if it is a more severe hyperextension where he really stretched or even tore some ligaments, which is hopefully not the case, it could be a good deal longer of course.

Bulldawg Bob2 DawgByte Greg Poole MMCSDAWG AlphaDawg Similar to Chubb. He basically super hyperexended his knee

Article from Mark Weiszer at Online Athens on Isaiah Mckenzie and Special Teams:

“There were some situations there that were a little scary,” he said. “When you talk about turning the ball over three or four times on special teams, that’s never a good situation. That’s another thing that we’re approaching, attacking, making sure that those guys understand the importance of ball security.”

  16. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole DawgByte I would definitely error on the conservative side and keep him out as long as needed.  Work him thru the non-contact stuff, but let his knee rest.  We can’t afford to be missing any more DL.

  17. Bulldawg Bob2

DawgByte Greg Poole MMCSDAWG AlphaDawg  Mild hyperextended knee injuries take 2 to 4 weeks on average.

But a severe hyperextended knee injury can tear ligaments and/or the meniscus.

  18. Greg Poole

DawgByte Hard to say. Could be back in a day or two but just depends on who fell on it.
