JUSTIN FIELDS
CLASS: 2018
POSITION: No. 1 Dual-Threat QB
HT, WT: 6 foot 3, and 221 lbs
SCHOOL: Harrison High School
CITY, STATE: Kennesaw, GA
STATUS: COMMITTED to UGA
UGA OFFER: Yes, offered on 11/18/2016.
# OFFERS: 42
NEWS & NOTES: Justin Fields was offered by the Georgia coaching staff last fall. He was originally committed Penn State but de-committed from the Nittany Lions back over the summer on June 6th. Field then verbally committed to UGA and has been committed to the Bulldogs since October 6th. He is considered the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the 2018 recruiting class and one of the top two players in the state of Georgia as well as the country.
Last year, as a junior Fields threw 279 passes, completing 186 for over 2,770 yards and 23 touchdowns to just 6 interceptions as well as 1,176 yards and 15 touchdowns on 191 carries on the ground. Fields senior was cut short when he suffered a broken finger versus Dalton on Oct. 19th. But not before he put 1,417 yards up through the air and 18 touchdowns to only 2 interceptions on 81-of-127 passing. Plus, he continued to make opponents pay with his leg, rushing for 920 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground on 109 carries.
Is there any concern with Fields hearing from and getting visits from other programs and coaches like Florida’s new head coach Dan Mullen or Texas A&M’s new head coach Jimbo Fisher? Not really. Until the Harrison High School senior signs his LOI with or enrolls at UGA, Fields is fair game for other schools and coaches to continue to recruit. Which has been going on before the coaching changes we’ve seen in the last few weeks. The biggest question is whether or not Fields will sign early during the early signing period as well if we will choose to enroll early?
