Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

MMCSDAWG Greg Poole my only real complaint today (and I recognize it is somewhat unfounded) is that we didn’t keep Pruitt.  I am not down on the defensive staff in any way, I just think Pruitt is the best DC in the country and one of the best recruiters.

Greg Poole And neither will kirby…   I see Schuman being a protege’ and I am very impressed in the offensive staff Kirby has put together!  Kirby knows defense and I believe he learned a Valuable lesson from his friend on mistakes he made when taking over at UF…   Kirby went out and got a very experienced offensive staff and with Pittman and Chaney having worked together many years, he has eliminated much of the initial confusion and miscommunication associated with first time staffs…

ZippyMorocco Hey Zippy, just getting back in from golf and did not get to answer this a.m.

  4. MMCSDAWG

Bulldawg36  Scout team deamons!   I saw that too on the Dawgnation article about WR’s….  With the talent onsite and what’s coming in now, I don’t think we will ever see these young men on the field, but their contribution to our team is valuable from a scouting and preparation standpoint.

  5. Bulldawg36

Did y’all know we have two walk on split ends named Wyatt Payne and Steven Van Tiflin. Don’t know anything about these guys

  6. RumRunnerDoogie

DawgDaddy Bulldawg36 probably wont know, if a crootin insider was to say he would probably have a lot of trust lost with recruits

  7. DawgDaddy

dsw61 Is this one going to be on ESPN?  It would be a for sure watch for me if it is.

  8. DawgDaddy

Bansai buckeroo I agree Bb, beating UF ranks first but the Viles are a very close 2nd.

  9. Greg Poole

PTCDawg I have been getting some kind of popup concerning an swf file on mine – don’t know where that is coming from – but it not something I have placed on the site.

  10. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole PTCDawg DawgByte Me too, It gives you best of both worlds, Mis-matches in the passing game and better perimeter blocking in the running game!

  11. MMCSDAWG

PTCDawg DawgByte Like we saw on a few occasions in the Spring game…  the 3 TE set using Nauta in an H-back and putting Woerner and/or Davis off the LOS is a Dangerous formation IMO!

  12. Greg Poole

PTCDawg DawgByte  I’m guessing that TE is going to be a different position  – or different variations of the position – than we have seen in the past. I will not be surprised to see 3 TEs fairly often with one of the functioning more like a slot guy.

  13. PTCDawg

Greg Poole StMarysDawg  Greg, on my android I am consistently getting something like ‘content not supported do you want to continue’ in blocks of 4. I hit cancel 4 times and it keeps going until the next time it shows up, which could be two minutes later. If I am the only one experiencing that, it is not that big a deal, just thought I would mention it in case anyone else is seeing it.

  14. PTCDawg

DawgByte  Woerner is my second choice for Freshman impact player this year but that is predicated on the assumption he will spend most of his time not being a tight end. I think he can end up being a Mike Evans clone if given the chance and we are already jam packed at TE anyway. My overwhelming vote is for WR though I wouldn’t mind seeing some 3 TE sets with him joining Blaze and Nauta on the field.

  15. DawgByte

MMCSDAWG DawgByte I agree it will be interesting. I also agree with Greg that Charlie won’t see playtime on the defensive side of the ball. Interesting thought though.

  16. MMCSDAWG

DawgByte Watching the Spring game I was impressed with how Chaney used our TE’s in multiple alignments.  There was a video posted a while back where it focused on how TE’s were being used in an H-back and split off the line as well.  I think Charlie will create mis-matches when used in this manner and I look forward to seeing how Chaney utilizes him.

  17. StMarysDawg

Greg Poole StMarysDawg Thanks.  Yes, I was referring to the signup on my PC.  The other ad popups on my mobile device (iphone) were really bad the last few times.  Appreciate the response.

  18. Greg Poole

StMarysDawg  It a signup form for our newsletter that we have as a pop-up. After you have seen it 5 times it goes away. If you are seeing any kind of ad pop up, it is not us that is causing it.

  19. BahitsAgain

DawgByte I want him as a WR.   He would be a huge matchup problem for DCs and probably a serious blocking thug down field for our RBs and receivers.

  20. Bulltoad

DawgByte I pefer him at TE just because I trust Chaney to use him and if you look at the NFL the Tight Ends are playmakers.  Gronk, Graham, etc.  If he develops he could join that type of group.

  21. MMCSDAWG

StMarysDawg I have no pop ups anytime I’m on here, whether it’s from Desktop or Mobile…  Might be something on your end.  I use Adblocker on the desktop and nothing on my mobile…

  22. DawgByte

I just read on DawgNation that Charlie Woerner has been put into the TE group.

Here’s my thought… I think Charlie’s size and speed make him an ideal Slot receiver. The TE field is loaded and crowded at UGA and I’d hate to see us squander Charlie’s talent. Someone recently suggested Smart should make Woerner an ILB. Initially, I rejected that idea in the hopes he’d be with the WR’s. Now I’m rethinking that suggestion. Woerner may make a very good ILB. What do ya’ll think?

  23. StMarysDawg

Hey guys, not sure what changed, but the popups are very annoying.  I can’t use BI on my mobile device anymore.  I understand you need to pay bills, but come on… 😉

  24. dsw61

Bleudawg MMCSDAWG BahitsAgain The LB group and secondary should be solid. Jenkins was injured much of last year with his groin injury…he barely played against Tennessee which really hurt. The DL is very talented…but as you say…they are young. The offense should be better than last year as it would be hard to be worse. The one thing I’m most confident in is Chaney improving the 3rd down conversion percentage from last season. I also think Cheney’s belief that 60% of throws are movement throws will improve QB play…a lot.

  25. RumRunnerDoogie

dawgmum MMCSDAWG Bansai buckeroo my guess is either it was just a rumor or the prospect told all these players to delete the tweets about it

  26. dsw61

Unlike last year, Tennessee is going to be a more tired team the week they play Bama. Their bye comes after the Bama game this year…instead of before like last year.
