Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

Bansai buckeroo my old man was a bologna and pimento cheese man…If for some reason he offered to fix us something to eat when we were kids, thats what it would be…

  2. Bansai buckeroo

Haven’t had a pineapple sandwich in probably 55 years……a definite childhood staple. Must be a southern thing…

  3. Richmondawg

Need to go put my sauce on for later, can’t believe its almost 2 already…

RobDawg  Minus whatever the red thing is on top, my Mom made pear salad that looked just like that when I was a kid (pear half with mayo in the middle and a bunch, I mean a bunch, of grated cheese on top as that’s the only way that us kids would eat it).

  5. 1mandawgpack

RobDawg  Now you’re talking – there’s not much that beats a high-quality tomato on a really fresh slice of white bread with a little mayo added for flavor.

  6. RobDawg

Found a picture to see if it was just us but there are tons of pictures of pear salad as I see it’s called. My mother’s looked more appealing than this but here it is ….

Lucas Rogers 1mandawgpack RobDawg  Thanks for sharing.  If Ramsey doesn’t start this year at QB and our punter starts to pan out, I think he’s gone.  I also think that some of the smaller, undersized OL will see the writing on the wall with Pittman and will seek playing time elsewhere.  Plus, with the Hope Scholarship, CKS has a lot of wiggle room to go to some of the better students on the team and use that as an avenue.  With this being CKS’ first full class, I just don’t see him signing any less than the maximum number that he can, which I think will be closer to 30.  I think the Midnight Mower was on here yesterday and said he also wouldn’t be surprised for the class to approximate 30 players.  I guess we’ll see, but CKS is also an expert at roster management.  I don’t ever see UGA grey-shirting, but I do see the Hope Scholarship as a viable way to manage numbers to free up a few scholarships.

RobDawg Today is the Hanover county tomato festival up here. Their tomato’s are usually wonderful because of the soil, but with all of the rain this year they might be a bit bland. That place is a zoo…went once and it took 45 minutes to get out of the parking lot and back to the highway

  9. RobDawg

It’s heaven on a homegrown tomato sandwich too. Dukes just has that something extra in its flavor on sandwiches to me

JaxDawg  I think the Pace RB was the feature player in the recruiting thread from yesterday.  Don’t know a lot about him as UGA has been most interested in the big 3 (Carter, Swift & Akers).  Never say never about recruiting, but he seems very interested in Ohio State at the moment and 1 of the 2 local teams could also still get him, so I definitely think he’s the least likely out of the 3 at the moment to choose UGA.

RobDawg Dukes is made by C F Sauer, of Richmond. I can see their headquarters out my back door. Beautiful old building with a cool lighted sign on top. They grind and mix spices there, but I think the mayo is made down in NC these days.

  12. Lucas Rogers

1mandawgpack Lucas Rogers RobDawg Yeah I mean I know but that is a lot of attrition regardless. I think the class ends at like 27.

  13. 1mandawgpack

Lucas Rogers 1mandawgpack RobDawg  OK – but you’re assuming that players will make a decision to leave on their own.  I think CKS brings a lot of philosophies with him from ‘Bama and if we have 3rd and 4th year players who aren’t in the playing rotation, I don’t think that CKS will have the same tolerance with them as CMR did.

  15. Lucas Rogers

1mandawgpack RobDawg Jake Rowe posted an article other day saying we would need like 11 players to leave to sign that many

  16. 1mandawgpack

DawgByte  Why were you having a conversation with a jock strap (athletic supporter)?

  17. 1mandawgpack

RobDawg  1/4 as I say we take closer to 30 in this class.  Keep in mind that our last class wasn’t a complete class (even with the late additions) and we’ve already had attrition on the team (and will have more, for sure), so I think that CKS will find a way to sign around 30.

  18. 1mandawgpack

RumRunnerDoogie Lucas Rogers  He’s a dang tree stump.  Would love to have that thumper in the middle of our D flanked by McBride.

  19. 1mandawgpack

JaxDawg  We’ll get Swift as he and Webb are a package deal and both want to play in the SEC.  He’s just dragging out the drama and national media coverage until September when he announces at his first game in Cali.  If we miss on Swift and Cam, I think we go after that RB from Pace all out.

1mandawgpack Hobnailboot aka RobG RumRunnerDoogie RobDawg LOL, we all have our faults

  21. 1mandawgpack

Hobnailboot aka RobG RumRunnerDoogie RobDawg  RobG, with your love of the Dawgs and fishingI was a huge fan of yours until that statement.  PB and Banana is a gift from the Gods.

  22. 1mandawgpack

RobDawg  Thanks for supporting the Flowers Foods family – great company based in God’s country – Thomasville, GA.

  23. RobDawg

How about a half canned pear with big ole dollop of mayo in the cavity, a little fine shredded cheddar and a cherry on top. My mom would serve that as a desert sometimes and I thought it was really fancy.

  24. 1mandawgpack

Greg Poole 1mandawgpack  Don’t think I don’t know that everything is about the almighty greenback.  If Oregon had been wearing Russell Athletic or Wilson uniforms, they would have gotten a much worse ruling from the NCAA on their recruiting violations.  However, the NCAA knew that they couldn’t cut their own throat, so Oregon got off with a lighter penalty than it otherwise would have, for sure.

  25. DawgDaddy

Lucas Rogers His legs look strong, I like RBs to have big legs.  Break more tackles that way.

  26. Greg Poole

1mandawgpack The key is money. Nike put a ton in CFB and it is not directed at one team. NCAA will find a way around its amateurism philosophy when it benefits them.
    Rules are for suckers.

  27. 1mandawgpack

Greg Poole 1mandawgpack  Well it appears the instead of curing the addict, you’ve only made it worse.

  28. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Greg Poole Hobnailboot aka RobG I do, I sometimes work around chillers that use 4160 voltage to run

  29. RobDawg

If you only have crushed pineapple it’s ok but best is the ring slices which you have to tear and interlock the rings to get maximum amount of bread coverage. Just finished my second one. Mmmmm good

  30. 1mandawgpack

RumRunnerDoogie 1mandawgpack  In the Trey/Jake interview yesterday, Jake did mention how good one of the current college players who is there to help with drills, etc. was.  So, I’m guessing that somehow, there is some way for Nike to use a few players from the teams they sponsor in an ambassador type of role without violating NCAA guidelines.  This is interesting until the first time that a major player ends up getting hurt badly out there, and then the fun will come to an end.

  31. Greg Poole

1mandawgpack There is a discussion about that below. I texted Jake Reuse (he’s there) and he didn’t know how they bypass extra benes on that wither.

  32. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Greg Poole Hobnailboot aka RobG I’ll stick with eating my fruit plain and meat and cheese on my sammich
