AlphaDawg Could be UGA has heard some not so good news from some guys they had higher on the board and they have turned up the heat on JW. Could be he really wants to be a DAWG but did not feel he was a priority until now. Maybe he realized that USCe lacked talent and would be rebuilding for the next few years. The Ole Ball Sack did leave the cupboard pretty empty. Don’t know what is going on behind the scenes, but it does make for some interesting discussion. The article I read said he may be coming to tell the coaches in person he is not coming. So, I guess we will have to wait until the end of the month to see where he says he is going and then the first Wed of Feb to see where he signs. Long way to go regardless.

    1. Jim Mora says UCLA won’t have a true scrimmage this fall, and they probably won’t even tackle to the ground at all. It’s a trend continuing in college football.
“We’ll do a move-the-ball period. We’re not going to tackle,” Mora said of the upcoming weekend. “We’re not going to go to the ground. I’ll be surprised if we tackle at all during this camp. We don’t need to. It’s dangerous, we’re mature enough to get our work done in individuals, and we’re having enough collisions. I don’t think we’ll have an all-out scrimmage.
“I don’t think many teams are doing that anymore. We’re moving away from that with player safety, the concussion issue. These guys do so much work in the offseason, they’re in such great shape, I just don’t know if you need to do that anymore.”
Mike Gundy hasn’t run a full scrimmage in six years, while David Shaw still preaches practicing with real physicality, so there are different mindsets.

AlphaDawg I hate to see any kid have a season ending injury, they work so hard to have the season become a complete wash out.

66DAWGnNC AlphaDawg I know originally UGA was a leader for AJ Terrell when UGA discovered him, after his recruiting blew up, he realized he had a lot more options. Maybe that’s why? I know UGA sits good with Gibbs right now. UGA put a lot of focus into Poole too. I just could have been higher targets are now looking elsewhere? I don’t know.

AlphaDawg Everything I have read says he is a ball hawk with great skills. Size aside, I have wondered why we did not recruit him harder. Maybe we did  and it just seemed as if we didn’t. If he is as good as all the reports say, then I say he is a take and you find a spot for him. It is obvious Kirby knows what he is doing in recruiting, especially the D side of the ball. He will get 90% of the guys he wants I believe. If we have a better year than projected, next year and the years thereafter that should jump to at least 95% I would think.

66DAWGnNC My gut feeling is he goes to USC, but I did hear UGA is getting the last visit which is huge! So I’m much more optimistic for the Dawgs. Regarding his size, yes he is smaller but other reporters have stated several times, he is a take for UGA without a doubt.

Just read where Jamyest Williams will be in Athens tomorrow. From everything I have read, he is a bit undersized for what Kirby and Krew are looking for in a DB although he is rated 4* and supposedly one of the best athletes in the country. While it doesn’t appear that we have pursued him very hard, what is the gut feeling of our chances by the crew on here? I know we have some bigger DB’s we are after who are rated just as highly. I am just wondering why only a couple weeks away from his commitment date he is back in Athens. Interesting scenario imo.

Greg Poole AlphaDawg Nope. That’s a reality check. I hate it because I loved watching TK lay the wood on folks, but you can’t just decide when you want to work or not.

Was watching HardKnocks on HBO few days ago and Jeff Fisher cut a guy from the team for having a female drop something off at his dorm during camp. He said, NO FEMALES, under any circumstances. This kid got cut from an NFL roster that quick. It’s a no BS business and there’s plenty of folks who will follow the rules to have that scholarship and chance.

Mitchell dislocated his left elbow during the second quarter of their 34-22 victory against the Saints, but he is expected to return in four weeks, two sources told the Herald. He succumbed to the ugly injury while bracing his fall after an 8-yard catch. The fourth-round pick out of Georgia was trying to keep his balance with his left hand while being tackled by Saints cornerback De’Vante Harris, but Mitchell’s arm twisted and gave out.
He immediately clutched his arm and ran straight to the locker room with the Patriots’ medical staff.
Mitchell had a team-high four catches along with 55 yards. His athleticism and playmaking ability helped him get more first-team reps in practice in recent days, and he was the Patriots’ best receiver on the field in the opening half.
If he can indeed get back within that four-week window, the rookie could be ready to go for the regular-season opener against the Cardinals. However, the missed time on the practice field will hinder his personal growth and chemistry with quarterbacks Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo.

AlphaDawg You do not walk out of a practice – ever – under any circumstances…unless you ae prepared to be kicked off of the team.

  11. AlphaDawg

tmdawg12 He’s put out conflicting statements. Yesterday AJC put one out that he just wanted to sit out a few practices to let the other guys get a chance to play…. Wha???

I saw this last night and it looked horrible. I’m looking forward to seeing him do his thing in the show. After he heals, he will be back.

“It’s exciting. I can be right around the corner from home and try to bring a national championship back to Georgia,” Beal said.Even though the pitch sounds solid, you have to believe in the salesman to truly commit. Beal’s relationship with Smart has been great; it was even before he accepted the job at Georgia. Beal noted that throughout his recruitment, Smart has been the same guy. That’s why Beal knew he could trust him.
“Kirby Smart, he’s a cool guy. I had a good relationship with him when he was at Alabama, and when he went to Georgia, that was perfect for me. He wants me to come in, start as a freshman, and get all that type of stuff done,” he said.
Starting early is something that Beal made sure to note. He wants to be a contributing part as early as possible. Some of that is through his confidence in his own abilities. http://campusinsiders.com/news/robert-beal-uga-football-kirby-smart-08-10-2016

“Numbers don’t lie (about Pittman),” Wray said. “He’s sent eight guys to the NFL in the last three seasons. He has a wisdom about him that I didn’t sense in any other coach. As soon as I met him, I knew I needed him as my coach. He’s going to help me be the best player possible.”
Pittman, when recruiting the junior lineman, didn’t have to be too creative when trying to persuade Wray to land in Athens.
Wray said when he discussed his accolades and his focus, it was a no-brainer.
“In recruiting, it wasn’t a pitch,” Wray said. “He simply had a confidence about himself, knowing he was the best. He was just himself, and that’s all I needed. Even though I’m not in this upcoming class, we still talk often.”The 6-foot-6, 265-pound offensive lineman is rated as the eighth best offensive lineman nationally for the Class of 2018, according to the 247Sports.com composite rankings.
In addition to Georgia, Wray also had offers from numerous Power 5 schools. Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi, North Carolina and Texas A&M were among those showing interest in Wray.

tmdawg12   From Kimbrough. There are several versions floating around but the bottom line is that Kimbrough was not happy that he was having to compete for PT and acted out.
