Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

I’ve always believed that Georgia could have gotten a lot more out of Ramsey last year with the right OC.

Bansai buckeroo sounds like home… still waiting for him to say feller to prove hes from S. GA#

South Georgia baby….almost north Florida……don’t hear it much in Marietta being surrounded by Yankees and such… ##

MMCSDAWG gaining over 30lbs of muscle has an effect on team mates at 6 6 245  he is almost as big as newton– being that big has an effect

Hmmm…Kirby said that Ramsey understands the offense and makes good decisions. Also puts an emphasis on his mobility and athleticism. Mentions Lambert’s football IQ and ability to make good decisions…but then adds he’s not very mobile. This is going to be an interesting QB competition because Chaney likes mobile QBs who can take off and run if the play isn’t there and the defense gives him an opening.

DawgByte Greg Poole Yeah, I’m beginning to think that also. Just need to keep him away from Auburn’s magical cabin in the woods.

  7. MMCSDAWG

Yes I will be happy no matter who trots out against unc. I still believe Eason starts but I won’t be disappointed no matter who starts. I will trust Kirby and Chaney to make the best decision!

Hobnailboot aka RobG DawgByte He’s clearly walking around with a hobnail boot dangling from his posterior to make a statement like that.

DawgByte WTF is “Tailback Tech”…..some dude from Lexington said UGA was known as “Tailback Tech”….SMH

  10. Greg Poole

Then he’s lying when he says he doesn’t know who is going to start. Not picking at you, and but Kirby didn’t go to Bram to give anything away.

  11. DawgByte

Frankly DawgByte I think Kirby is already his own man. He’s naturally going to take processes, methodologies, work ethic etc. he’s learned from Saban and bring it to Georgia. As he said it will be an evolving situation. Kirby today is different than Kirby 12 months from now. Experience does that to people.

  12. DawgByte

Greg Poole I think it was in the way he broke down each QB and how he answered the question about true freshmen starting in the SEC. I think Kirby believes that Lambert gives Georgia the best opportunity to win, because he’s a good decision maker.

  13. Greg Poole

Just curious, and what part of his remarks today do you see as new info? I didn’t hear anything that he has not said since the first time he was asked about QBs

They asked a question I have been wondering – How will Kirby be his own man as a head coach and not just a Saban clone?  I don’t say that as a negative just as a curiosity.

  15. DawgByte

DawgDaddy DawgByte Kirby and Chaney are going to give the ball to the guy who gives us the best chance to win. TO’s are a big part of that equation. Kirby said he believes it is very challenging for a true Freshman to start in this league and if you look around he has the statistics to back up that statement. Few freshmen QB’s have succeeded in the SEC. Is Eason the type of kid to blow up those examples, I think so, but I don’t get a vote.

  16. DawgDaddy

DawgByte Still not sold on Lambert will start, I think Skinny takes it over in fall drills.  Undeniable talent.  I think he will get lots of reps to bring him up to the speed of the college game.

  17. DawgByte

DawgDaddy DawgByte You going to be happy when Lambert trots out there and commands the huddle against UNC?

    Greg Poole
“While there is no guarantee of success for coaches at this level, but there are few first-year head coaches better equipped at a new program than Smart has been at Georgia.”

I’ve said this from day one.  It’s hard to imagine a better situation for a first time head coach that is replacing a fired coach.

Basically the talking heads on ESPN were saying the same thing….I think we surprise people this year…
