Greg Poole I listened to the very long interview with Jamyest’s dad and I think he’s leaning toward South Carolina…at least prior to his Saturday visit. IMO they are overly sensitive about his height and are sensitive to how various coaching staffs view his height. I think going into the visit they were much more comfortable with how he is viewed by the South Carolina Staff than the UGA staff.

Bansai buckeroo LOL. Not compared to Ramsey above on similar throw:) I do think Eason is gradually adding more tilt. It’s more noticeably on longer throws. I give QBs a pass on how they throw when throwing shorter passes because they can do almost anything and have success. I worry about the intermediate to longer throws because I think it puts undue stress on the arm if you make those throws with level shoulders. Once the ball is released you want the arm to decelerate down and around because it’s a longer path. When you throw with level shoulders the tendency is to bend forward at the waste after ball release and for the arm to decelerate to much out front and down. It’s more abrupt.

Bansai buckeroo  Yep. There are only so many ways to say these things. The next scrimmage is going to give us a much clearer picture of where things stand at QB and other positions.

The season needs to start to give these reporters something new to talk about. It seems to me I’m reading the same stuff over and over again….

Hobnailboot aka RobG morning Rob, heading out for early church now, y’all hold it down in here.

Greg Poole I look forward to the day we are consistently getting 8 or so of these kids.  11 for 11 would be mind blowing.

Freshman Jacob Eason is likely to start at some point this season. The question is just when it’s going to happen. This is likely not an “if” question, but a “when” question.
Greyson Lambert was last year’s starter. He’s not very good. Who cares what his record was last year as the starter. The bounce passes we saw late in the season were all we needed to understand why Virginia didn’t cry when Lambert left as a graduate transfer.
Brice Ramsey is also there. He’s also the punter. If he had played in October in Jacksonville, Florida, instead of the third-string quarterback, we might know more of what Ramsey offers. But the former head coach wanted to seal his fate by doing something we will never understand.
So does Smart just turn things over to Eason? Some believe it might ruin Eason’s confidence if he’s in too early and struggles. Well, if that’s the case, this young man is not as special as we have been led to believe.
Sure, Eason is going to struggle, regardless of when he makes his first start. No freshman quarterback is completely ready from day one. But a start for a quarterback is a big deal. Georgia can get Eason playing time, but handing him the keys to the car as starter is a critical decision.
I’d rather start Eason from day one, in what could be a good game against North Carolina, compared to throwing him out there in a big SEC game. Does Georgia really want Eason to start his first game Oct. 1 against Tennessee? If he starts Sept. 3 in week one, Eason would at least have four games under his belt before the game that might determine the season.

    Injuries:
With Tim Kimbrough transferring out of the Georgia program, inside linebacker now has a depth issue.
And at least one additional player at the position seemed limited at the start of Saturday’s practice. Juwan Taylor was at practice but not participating in drills. While he had a regular jersey on, he was not spotted with a helmet. This was the case when reporters were at practice and very well could have changed once the media exited Sanford Stadium.
In addition to Taylor, Natrez Patrick was limited in individual drills and wasn’t expected to do much, or anything, in Saturday’s scrimmage.
With those two players not doing much, it could serve as an opportunity for Johnny O’Neal and Shaun McGee to earn more reps. Both O’Neal and McGee moved from outside linebacker to inside linebacker this preseason, and made the move prior to Kimbrough’s departure.
Freshman Jaleel Laguins could get a shot at some reps as well.
Defensive back Juwuan Briscoe was also in a black non-contact jersey, although his injury hasn’t been revealed yet. Receiver Isaiah McKenzie, who has a shoulder bruise, was still in a black jersey, too.
Defensive tackle John Atkins was on the field but didn’t appear to have a helmet. Fellow defensive tackle DaQuan Hawkins-Muckle was seen with his position group going through individual drills.
