Bulldawg Bob2 Blazevich has 4 catches for 60 yds and a TD
Does anyone have any insider info on how Jamyest’s visit was this weekend? His dad’s interview made it seem like he was favoring SC, but I got the idea that if Kirby put the hard sell on him, he might stay at home.
How many times are the TEs targeted in the passing game vs UNC? Who do you think will be the TE with the most receptions in that game?
RobDawg Last I heard / read, they planted new trees.
Greg Poole I think Chubb gets around 15 and then Douglas and Holyfield get another 20 to 22 split between them.
I don’t know if Michel will be completely 100% ready to go for UNC, but I could be wrong.
RobDawg I’m saying Chubb, then Holyfield – just ’cause I feel like it.
Chubb has the most then Michele
Hobnailboot aka RobG Like the “wood” pun
Speaking of Toomers Corner what ever happened to the trees there? Did they ever just cut em down or are they hanging on?
Which RB gets the most attempts in the Dome? Which has second most?
RobDawg I was reading through my college football news feeds and thought surely that had to be a mistake lol. But nope.
Bulldawg Bob2 Being a tree is a rough life it would seem
LOL ! We gotta keep asking till we hear the real story behind this one.
South Carolina Sean Kelly punter won’t miss game time after being charged with “malicious injury to tree:”
“Kelly posted a personal recognizance bond on Aug. 12 after being arrested and charged with public disorderly conduct and malicious injury to tree, house and trespass upon real property with an injury value $2,000 or less, according to South Carolina Judicial Department records.”

Freshmen QBs in the SEC

Some more of No. 20 – Quincy Mauger
Bulldawg Bob2 Could be but I see him adding flexibility in this way: With Catalina at LT, Wynn can move to his more natural guard position leaving Pittman more options to start and rotate the others.
Bulldawg Bob2 Greg Poole One of the big factors for Eason is one we have discussed on here before which is the transition from taking the ball from the shotgun and taking the ball from center. This is a big deal even though we will see a lot of shot gun looks. The game will need to slow down for Eason soon. The more snaps he takes the slower the game will be for him. The light bulb will light up and when it does, we will know it. He has the talent and the football IQ to make the game look easy like Peyton Manning did at TN. He will make a lot of opposing coaches loose a lot of sleep. When – is just how long it takes for the game to come to him.
Under three weeks to go folks. Only 20 days to go as dawgmum pointed out.
Greg Poole Aye Greg. I think he is that sixth guy that Pittman can plug in at several places along the line as needed.
Bulldawg Bob2 My guess is still that Catalina will provide depth or start at LT. If he can start the line gets a lot better at once.
Bulldawg Bob2 Great reads! Makes it hard to wait, but at least there’s only 20 days left.

I’ll talk defense later.
OL
I think Sam Pittman along with the S&C staff has really lit a fire under the big hog mollies. I’ve heard that Pittman has really been rotating in different groups and packages. Really testing and throwing a lot at his players.
I think this is the unit I am most anxious to see come Sept. 3rd. I wish I could say more, but I trust in Sam Pittman. This is a guy who knows what he is doing.
WRs
Outside of Reggie Davis and sophomore Terry Godwin, this is a very young and inexperienced group. I think Terry Godwin is going to be solid. I think Reggie Davis needs to put everything together and have a great senior season. I am hoping he does, and I believe he can. Georgia really needs him do so to help the sophomores and freshmen receivers come along.
I think Javon Wims will be a factor, but I think he may take him a little while longer to get everything down in the playbook; so, I expect to see him used in packages and situationally until he does so. Very talented receiver and player though.
Chigbu and Stanley could have big seasons. I think a dark horse of the receiver group is Ridley.
The biggest thing this receiving corps needs to get better at are the dropped balls though from what I’ve heard. Hopefully, that will be fixed or at least better over the next two weeks.
Here’s the play I mentioned a couple of days ago where Lambert didn’t see the safety and got lucky. I could probably come with four of five more just like this where Lambert didn’t see the safety or LB. Three in the Missouri game alone. The stats say he only threw 2 ints, but he lady luck on his side several times.

TEs
I think this is the deepest TE group from top to bottom that I can remember since 2003 when the Dawgs had senior Ben Watson, sophomore Martrez Milner, and freshman Leonard Pope … all 3 of which played in the NFL.
With junior Jeb Blazevich leading the way plus junior Jordan Davis, sophomore Jackson Harris along with freshmen Isaac Nauta and Charlie Woerner (whom I thought would remain a WR but that just goes to show you what I know and I am often wrong lol), ….. what more is there I need to say.
RB
I think we all know by now that Nick Chubb is good to go. He is going to play, and he will be the starter at TB vs UNC. The only question is how much they work Chubb in that first game? I would not be surprised for him to be limited to around 15 carries.
Will Sony Michel be ready. I think he will be close. I’m putting it at questionable for right now.
But even if Michel is not 100% or cleared to play vs UNC, Georgia will be OK at RB. Douglas may not have the speed and talent as Chubb, Michel or even Holyfield, but he is a solid RB who gets tough 3 and 4 yard gains when you need them. Plus, he may be the best blocker at TB.
Holyfield has looked good, and he doesn’t go down on first contact from what I’ve heard. He rarely did in high school. I think he can run fine with the big boys. The only question for him is pass protection. And the other freshman RB? Herrien is fast. He is a good change of pace RB.
Georgia has had two weeks of fall camp so far and has 2 weeks left before game week; so, I wanted to share my observations so far … for what it’s worth, lol.
QB race – who will start?
That is the question is it not? I think everyone below made some very good points and arguments. Greg Poole makes a good point, though. Whichever QB separates themselves from the others, will be the guy against UNC, but if all 3 are close in performance through fall camp then the coaching staff will have to decide between on experience in Lambert vs. potential talent in Eason. In order for Ramsey to have a chance, he’s going to have to flat out separate himself from Lambert and Eason; so, it’s a no-brainer. From what little I’ve seen and from what I’ve heard, that is not likely.
There are still two weeks to go though; so, overstating the obvious, we will know more after the next scrimmage and next week of practice than we do now. A lot can change between now and then.
Bulldawg Bob2 You are a good man BB2 I am certain Samaritan’s Purse is on the way there–for the 3rd time this year — it has been Floods for the last 2 years.
https://twitter.com/LIBERTYCITYBOI/status/764678206217678848
RobDawg Aye. I think Bama is still the team to beat in the West …. and the SEC for that matter. LSU has had several injuries on defense, and Auburn and A&M are a hot mess.
DawgByte My theory is that he doesn’t have to separate himself, Rather, he must just stay approximately even with them.
I have been saying for a while that if Eason is close to the others and the coaches are pretty sure that he will progress to number one in the first half of the season – that is, his superior talent will bring him forward – then you start him against UNC. He will progress further, quicker, by playing than watching.
Of course, there are 2 assumptions in my theory. First, the competition is close and second that Eason will become the starter during the season.
I know we rib and poke at our SEC opponents in the competition as football fans, but thoughts and prayers need to go out to the folks in Louisiana, Baton Rouge and LSU. They have been hit hard by flooding.
LSU cancels Fan Day, Media Day due to rain, flooding http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2016/08/lsu_cancels_fan_day_media_day.html
Dang they got Bammer winning it all?
Greg Poole You bet GP.
Bulldawg Bob2 Bob is coming in early to let me prepare for the OLLI class I’m teaching later this week. Thanks Bulldawg Bob2 !
Good Sunday afternoon BI.
Hope everyone is having a blessed weekend
Greg Poole DawgByte Here’s the $64K question: Over the next two scrimmages do you believe Eason can separate himself from Lambert and Ramsey to start against UNC?

freddawg DawgByte ronaldo77 Of the players you mentioned I only have confidence in Patrick, Smith and Amaechi at ILB. I don’t know enough about Laguins, McGee and Brown to make a call yet. Manac was recruited as an OLB based on body type and where he lined up at HS, however I do like his size to play the middle, so I hope they experiment with him on the inside. Of the three I mentioned in my comfort zone, Amaechi last year primarily lined up at OLB, from what I recall. This is why I think we’re thin. Carter is just serviceable IMO, some will disagree.
To your point we can throw a lot of guys at that position, but how much experience do they have as well as talent. Those are the unanswered questions in my mind.

DawgByte That guy is a pro who gets national gigs from time to time. Alot of his stuff goes off the deep end into stat geek stuff for me though
Greg Poole He did a thorough job… obviously a homer with rose colored beer goggles on, but nonetheless it’s a good write-up on the Dawgs.
