I’ll have a page set up with permanent info on Pick’em as well and will post a link to it later today or tomorrow.

Frankly  Aye. Glad he was able to qualify and chose to come to Georgia. He is a good RB. Looking forward to seeing him run the ball in red and black.

  3. Frankly

Herrien is not only fast. He is a tough runner. I watched one of their games and what you don’t see in the highlight video is all of the runs against 8 in the box with very poor blocking and he still gets 5,6,7,8 yards.
He is behind because of lack conditioning while he got caught up with his grades but he is a talented RB.

  4. Frankly

I think there are two 5-star freshman TEs in the group. Blaze and Harris are very good but the 2 FR can be special.

Greg Poole Nobody mentions our secret pass rushing weapon, D’Andre Hawkins.  He’s flying beneath the radar until September 3rd.

Needed to win the East:GeorgiaAvoiding the training room — Georgia needs running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel to be healthy. As summer workouts began, Chubb was rehabbing after a knee injury, and Michel was recovering from a broken forearm. Both need to be ready when the Bulldogs face North Carolina in the season opener on Sept. 3.Replacement parts — Leonard Floyd, Jordan Jenkins and Jake Ganus combined for 235 tackles last season. Lorenzo Carter, Davin Bellamy and others will need to replace that production.A search for balance — Last season, Georgia quarterbacks (with Greyson Lambert posting most of the attempts) were 10-0 in games in which they completed at least 52 percent of their passes. The Bulldogs were 0-3 when they failed to reach that number. Lambert, Brice Ramsey or incoming freshman Jacob Eason will need to complete more passes.https://www.seccountry.com/sec/3-things-that-must-happen-for-every-sec-east-team-to-win-the-division

PTCDawg freddawg  I hear you, guys. The point I’m making is that Rocker was not too excited about his potential

  8. Greg Poole

PTCDawg Allen will get PT. He just needs time. My guess is he starts to make some progress during the year.  UGA badly need contribution from the RS freshmen as the year rolls along. Injuries and dings will happen. It would be great to rest the starters some.
Last last they played just about every snap.

  9. PTCDawg

freddawg PTCDawg I was also excited about his DL potential Fred. Maybe OL gives him a better shot at playing on Sundays. He has 2 years to make his case.

  10. PTCDawg

Bulldawg Bob2 PTCDawg Greg Poole good point Bob. I had not accounted for his redshirt. So he still has 4 years in front of him counting this year.

  11. Greg Poole

freddawg It will not bug you when he contributes on the OL and remember that the move was not done decided by a coin flip…also the guy that moved him is still the DL coach. Rocker is not giving up guys that he sees as players

  12. PTCDawg

Greg Poole PTCDawg you think Allen plays this year Greg? or eventually? and yeah, I had Allen ahead of Bynum but we hear good things about Bynum and nothing about Allen. At least I havent. Glad Bynum seems to be trying to make the most of the itme he has left.

  13. Bulldawg Bob2

PTCDawg Greg Poole I think Pat Allen is a future starter on the o-line. He is still only a redshirt freshman.

I am hoping with Pittman as the o-line coach and the recruiting that Kirby Smart and this staff can do, that Georgia becomes a team that plays mainly juniors and seniors with some talented redshirt sophomores on the o-line and the freshmen and sophomores are being developed and coached behind them.

I still think it takes 2 to 3 years for a lot of these offensive linemen to develop the maturity and technique to play in the SEC coming out of high school. There are exceptions of course.

  14. freddawg

PTCDawg  I can’t shake the idea that Gaillard would have eventually done well on the DL too.  It bugs me because good DL are hard to find and we could use him this year.

  15. Greg Poole

PTCDawg I think Allen will play. Remember we are talking about the top 6 as we move toward the opener. Also don’t forget that linemen need time — the real surprise is Bynum.  What is it about Bynum that has changed — he is a grown man now — 3 years in the program — maturity brings a seriousness  and hardness that is import in head bustin’ territory…. knife fight in a ditch

  16. Greg Poole

freddawg The reason is that access is very limited. We usually get 15-21 minutes BUT those minutes occur during frills that are little more than warm-ups. The beat guys are under pressure to post meaningful stories from that and as a result, you get reports like the Catalina-is-on-the-third-team garbage of last week.
I don’t really care except that I have to spend time here telling people that reports of Catalina’s demise might be premature.

  17. PTCDawg

Greg Poole I thought Pat Allen would be right in the mix but he seems to be the name thats left out. Maybe he just hasn’t progressed as fast.

On the other hand, its awesome to see Gaillard coming on. Ya never know on those position changes but hopefully this one works out well for him. Hoping he has a great year this but but having 3 seniors on the line this year, we will be especially needful for him to rock the OL next year.

I’m setting up college pick’em through ESPN again, I’ll do a post as soon as I get it set up. Had some trouble with my ESPN account that took a while for customer support to get straightened out.

I need some help from anyone who played last year.

We had some trouble last year at the end when we redid the website and I had an issue with my ESPN account so I couldn’t go in look who the winner was. Last year’s winner was nvadawg.

Does anybody know who he is or how to get in touch with him?

  19. freddawg

Greg Poole I used to enjoy fall camp because we’d get some information about the new season.  Now it’s either pure speculation or misdirection deliberately fed to the media.  Very few reliable facts seem to get out of any team’s camp.

  20. Bulldawg Bob2

Keeping with the number 20 theme, but this one is a little harder.

This is another great Bulldog RB from the early 70s who wore 20?

  21. Greg Poole

Y’all remember the reports last week about Catalina being on the third team, right? Amazingly, he rebounded by Saturday to being one of the 6 OL that Smart says the starting 5 will come from.
Do not pay attention to camps reports telling you which team someone is practicing on. We only see warm ups and fundamentals drills. Who is 1st, 2nd or 3rd in these drills is not relevant.

Here is the news on the fatal plane crash in Tuscaloosa. There are reports on social media floating around that it was an Ole Miss plane, but to my knowledge, the only thing that is known at this time is that it is an Oxford University Aircraft Charter plane according to reliable news sources.

It is believed not to be affiliated with Ole Miss, but that is still being investigated. Regardless, still a tragedy as six people were killed.

  23. freddawg

RobDawg Evander Holyfield reminds me of Thomas Brown.  Both short and muscular, short striders, not super fast, but good sidestep and power.

  24. Bulldawg Bob2

    Quiz/trivia time:

Name another Georgia player, a DGD and RB, who sported the number 20 in the last 15 years?

  25. freddawg

Greg Poole  Last year was frustrating.  Aaron Murray would’ve shredded defenses the way they played us, but we couldn’t get untracked.  I hope Chaney watched our 2015 games several times.

  26. Bulldawg Bob2

Greg Poole freddawg Aye. We saw it happen last year, and for whatever the reasons, Schottenheimer couldn’t get the TEs involved to take advantage.

Teams did in 1991 when true freshman Zeier was in at QB and after he eventually was the starter. That was on a team with Garrison Hearst and Larry Ware at RB too.

And again in 2006 with Stafford.

  27. Greg Poole

freddawg Everyone will do that until UGA forces teams to stop. It worked like a charm last year, but I’m guessing that Chaney work that middle with the TEs  — plink, plink, boom

  28. Bulldawg Bob2

Hobnailboot aka RobG Bulldawg Bob2  Some mixed reports on who the plane was registered too.

Some say not an Ole Miss plane but it is Oxford University.

  29. freddawg

Bulldawg Bob2  Loading the box and man coverage seems like a good strategy for UNC, Bob.  Force our qb to execute under pressure.  That’s what I would do, especially given what we’ve already seen from Lambert and Ramsey, and our other option is a freshman.

  30. Bulldawg Bob2

Not confirmed, but reports on social media say that a plane affiliated with Ole Miss has crashed in Tuscaloosa and there are no survivors.

Again, not confirmed. Trying to find out what happened.

  31. Bulldawg Bob2

    RobDawg  I’m thinking something similar.

I think UNC are going to load up the box to stop the run and force who ever is at QB to put the ball into the air, whether it is Lambert or Eason taking snaps behind the center.

With the youth at WR, it would not surprise me for Chaney to utilize the TEs as a safety valve. Picking up 5 to 8 yards on short passes to the TEs works just as well at moving the chains as it does running the ball for 5 to 8 yards a carry.

  32. Bulldawg Bob2

dawgmum No insider info as we are not allowed to talk to prospects on visits. He seemed to have a good time based on what he was Tweeting out on social media, and I’ve heard through third parties he had a very good time and visit.

But that is not uncommon for prospects after a visit, especially with a coach like Kirby Smart. Plus, he got to meet and hang out with Elijah Holyfield’s dad, Evander.

I would say that USCe is probably still the favorite here, but I do think his visit to UGA gave him some things to think about; so, we shall see.
