Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

ed603 Same here, over 95 each day with the humidity it is feeling like 105-108.  Miserable.

DawgDaddy ed603  It’s been pushing 100 here in Louisiana!Plus the humidity, which is world class!

Re-watched the highlight video of Eason from G-Day focusing in on his mobility, and he makes a couple of throws that Lambert just can’t make. The one to Mckenzie at the 4:38 is one in particular. Lambert has not shown an ability to move to his right and reset his feet as quickly as Eason does on that throw. The fact that Chaney believes 60% of throws are movement throws makes me think that mobility may be the deciding factor. I would think the edge in that scenario goes to Eason or Ramsey.

dsw61 1mandawgpack  And unfortunate timing for him, he followed (within 1 year) an absolute film-junkie in A. Murray who basically lived watching/studying film.  The reason Murray was so effective was his ability to check out of bad plays at the LOS into good plays, as well as his ability to read what the defensive secondary was giving him and effectively make a preliminary decision on where he would throw his pass before the ball was snapped.  People talk about Tom Brady and the fact that he never gets sacked – he basically knows where the ball is going when he addresses the LOS and gets rid of it quickly.

MMCSDAWG Greg Poole dsw61 They do and so do the parents. They think If my baby goes to Georgia, he could catch a felony for having a bb gun you can buy at walmart for $20 and be 18. OR he can go to Bama and have a straight shot to the NFL.

  6. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole dsw61 You don’t have to look very far to see that…  He is defending his players, and believe me, others DO notice that.  Whether he personally believes what he’s saying is right or wrong, he absolutely knows what effect it will have on his players and on future prospects.

Greg Poole Man it would be cool if we could start pulling texas kids on a regular basis.

  8. MMCSDAWG

dsw61 1mandawgpack Then maybe his experiment at punter will pay off!  They get paid a pretty penny in the league if they can avg 45 yds and decent hang time.

  9. Greg Poole

dsw61 Well, one could look at that slightly differently. If one took a Machiavellian approach to analyzing Saban’s position, one could see his position as a recruiting tool. Of course, I am not suggesting that was his intention.

  10. dsw61

1mandawgpack dsw61 Yep, that’s the narrative on him. He doesn’t seem to have the intellectual curiosity about the game of football. He grew playing mostly soccer and got talked into playing football in something like the 8th grade.

dsw61  The word I hear out of Athens has nothing to do with Ramsey’s physical attributes.  Instead, it has more to do with his lack of mental preparation (i.e., spending lots of time watching and breaking down tape of opponents) and inability to read defenses.  If that info. is even partially true, then a new OC won’t change anything.

  12. dsw61

Bansai buckeroo Yeah, I think you’re probably right. I just wish the coaches could develop some confidence in him because he has all the physical tools. Kirby did say that Ramsey was getting comfortable with the offense. I really think Chaney and Kirby want a QB who is more mobile than Lambert.

  13. dsw61

It seems like INTs are the only criteria that matters when it comes to determining whether or not a QB is a good decision maker. Apparently a QB can throw to the wrong receiver or fail to pull the trigger on an open receiver; and still be considered a good decision maker because he doesn’t throw many INTs.

  14. Bansai buckeroo

I think we are all a little disappointed with how things have gone for Ramsey. He will get another chance but I’m not confident anything will change.

Bansai buckeroo  There will not be any accurate list. The paysite guys will try to contact kids who are likely to go, but…
There will be kids who only sign up for one day and there will be unofficials who do not compete – gonna be day-by-day info.
