Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

So Xaiver McKinney decommits from Bama. Any chance we are looking at him, or are we 100% focused on Gibbs, Stevens, and Jamyset?

  2. Dawgsrulegumpsdrool2

I may be wrong but with the decommitment of Jenkins I think Holloman may pop for the good guys this weekend.

godawgs678 Lucas Rogers yeah don’t like Auburn having last visit before decision though

  4. godawgs678

Lucas Rogers and if we knock it out of the park with Bishop this weekend, you never know

  5. Lucas Rogers

Let’s see UGA leads for Webb and Holloman behind scenes. Jenkins decommits, I think I know what that means lol

godawgs678  Everyone has been all stressed about how we were going to take 5 or 6 WR in this class.  Like I’ve said often, if Webb and Holloman both want to commit, take them as there is a good chance that not all of these young men will still be committed on NSD.

I know it works both ways as there appears to be little loyalty from the players to the programs and vice versa as it relates to verbal commitments, but I don’t like it at all when a program takes a young man’s verbal commitment and then hints that he might need to look elsewhere when/if bigger fish come along.  I’m not at all a fan of that (particularly within the last few weeks leading up to NSD) and don’t have sufficient info. to know if we did that with Jenkins but I just don’t think it’s right.

JaxDawg Sayler will almost certainly follow Andrew Thomas to Georgia. He also loves Pittman.

Just looked sn Xavier Jenkins is shown as 6-3, 195 from Valdosta.  That looks pretty good.

  9. BahitsDawg

lol, 247 is reflecting the Bama decommit and the rest of Bama’s class is still strong enough to keep them at #3 and ahead of Michigan and LSU.

I am guessing we will stay at #2 even if our Xavier decommits.

BahitsDawg Greg Poole  I actually love this mentality.  You look at a young man like Lorenzo Carter who appears to have all the physical attributes to be great, but according to information coming out of Athens, didn’t put in the work in the weight room, film room, etc. to be great.  Accordingly, he has been relatively average during his time in Athens and hasn’t lived up to expectations, particularly during his sophomore campaign (I’m not trying to bash the young man, only telling you what I’m seeing and hearing).  A lot of players achieve greatness at the HS level just because they’re superior athletically and/or physically to a field full of mostly average players.  However, to achieve greatness at the next levels (particularly in a conference like the SEC and then even moreso in the NFL) takes commitment and work ethic at a significantly higher level, which both Chubb and Fornette seem to get.

godawgs678 Where is that posted???  I looked and didn’t see it.  I saw he was visiting Miami

BahitsDawg Lucas Rogers I give it another couple weeks. Thats about it. People will get tired of the walking.

  13. BahitsDawg

Lucas Rogers BahitsDawg It is crazy.  I am ready for the fad to die down.  Will it be over by the second or third week of football season?  I hope so.

  14. godawgs678

I have a feeling he was asked to look elsewhere with Holloman and Webb possibly in the fold.

  15. BenKellam

Greg Poole But we still have all his friends joining us next season. They’ll help a ton with his recruitment. Not to mention…what lineman wouldn’t want to be coached by Pittman?

  16. MMCSDAWG

Lucas Rogers Pruitt effect???  notice nothing about Pruitt in the text…   Alabama will get theirs, but there is a definite disconnect at the moment.  Maybe he sees what they are trying to do with the Grad transfer…  Who knows.

  17. godawgs678

so…Xavier McKinney, the 4 star Safety from Roswell just decommitted from Bama…

    COME ON DOWN XM!

  18. Lucas Rogers

godawgs678 Haven’t seen a list. I hope no where near the amount of people for Dawg Night last year show up. There will be a lot of good players. Needs to be a GREAT visit for Tray Bishop.

  19. MMCSDAWG

godawgs678 I believe you hit the nail on the head…  Everyday is Dawgnight for this staff and the attention given to recruits is far superior to anything Dawg night ever gave.  Based on the reports from last 2 years events, there were WAY too many prospects and some were upset about the lack of attention and dysfunction.   I like how kirby is handling recruiting.  That is one area I am not worried about.

  20. Lucas Rogers

BahitsDawg LOL nah campus has so many. There are groups of 100’s of students that go walking around campus at night lol

  21. godawgs678

Is there a list anywhere of all this recruits coming this weekend? While I love the momentum we have in recruiting, I will say, the lead up to this weekend has been rather blah…nothing like Dawg Night ever was. Although, one could argue that our previous staff put too many eggs in one basket (Dawg Night), the current staff treats every day like that on the recruiting trail.

Greg Poole Has he graduated? If so he will be picked up by someone that has an extra scholly right now I would imagine.
