Nick Saban says it’s a new era of safety play, and it factors into recruiting. Saban, a defensive backs specialist by trade, knows he can’t get away with the big strong safeties who are there just for run support.
“In this day and age in football, the old strong safety-type guy that used to play run support and support the toss sweep and blow up the lead blocker, those guys are only good if they can cover,” he said on SiriusXM College Sports Nation. “When you’re playing people that are spread out, at some point in time, they have to cover, and it’s one of the things we’ve changed in our philosophy of recruiting safeties.
“We’d like to have the big, physical guys, but they have to be athletic enough to cover. I think it’s the way of the world now and the way the game’s changed. It’s the way we’ve had to adapt defensively to change with it.”

I wonder if they have em in baby size?
Bulldawg36 The baby can wear ’em too

It will still be the man of the hour….Grayson lambert!!!!!
Nice shoes! Would get em if we didn’t have a baby on the way!!!!!
It should be clear that Chubb will start against UNC. Remember when everyone said that without Chubb, Lambert would be a lock to start at QB. What now?
for a measly $110

DawgLink IDK – just something on my feed this morning.
Greg Poole haha was just about to post that here!
I thought I read he was rescued safely
They will lose a lot!!!!
Greg Poole DawgLink VT could beat them if Fuente was with VT for a few years. He’s a good coach and one I think will be up for bigger opportunities if he can make VT successful. USCjr should have went after him.
Even though I like the Braves, no way I would go this year. I don’t see how they will contend next year either

Magic is working brother
Hunker Down Just One More Time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hot damn I am ready to see #27 run through some folks
DawgLink They open with 2 games that could be tests depending on their attitude. Either Appy State or VPI (at Bristol) could beat them if they have been believing the hype all summer.
Not buying the UT hype as long as Booch is the coach

Here are some questions the Vols still have to answer:The offense takes its foot off the gas at the earliest opportunity. Veteran coordinator Mike DeBord proved solid at game plans and early success. The Vols averaged 6.3 yards per play in the first quarter, with a 65 percent completion rate and 5.5 yards per rush. After the first quarter: 5.3 yards per play, a 57 percent completion rate, 4.4 yards per carry. Predictability beset the play-calling, which put a lot of pressure on the defense. The defense could stand to be more disruptive. The Vol defense was pretty strong, but it also peaked early, allowing 3.9 yards per carry and a 83.4 passer rating in the first quarter, then 4.3 and 117.2 thereafter. To the extent that the D had an issue, it didn’t cause enough havoc. While they were excellent once opponents were leveraged into passing downs, forcing passing downs against good offenses was an issue.QB + place-kicker + coach. SB Nation’s Bud Elliott and I frequently discuss his theory that the combination of quarterbacking, place-kicking, and coaching can affect your close-game record, just as a strong bullpen can in baseball. Predictable play-calling, conservative coaching, iffy kicking, and overrated quarterback play from Joshua Dobbs helped create some close-game issues. http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2016/8/11/12430162/tennessee-volunteers-football-2016-preview-schedule-roster
Here is where we need to go on this issue:
No. 1: There should be no limits or restrictions on where graduate transfer students can go. They should be able to do their graduate work anywhere that will admit them. That they play sports should not be a factor that restricts their movement. Won’t the graduate athlete just go to the place that will help him the most? Yep. That pretty much covers it.
No. 2: For regular transfer students, the rule that requires them to sit out a year of competition still applies. It is a reasonable restriction. Not even pro football has unfettered free agency. But that should be the only restriction. Coaches cannot restrict where an athlete transfers because, again, it is a conflict of interest.

Good morning DD
Free Julian Rochester!!!!
(19 days until kickoff)
I gave up on Sunday day games and then non-dome Dawg openers. I know I’m getting soft with age, but life is too short to roast for a game when ice cold beer and HD is waiting at home
Only good thing about a Monday morning is its one day closer to kickoff. Good morning my fellow Dawgs
deltonadawg morning dd
Colonial Dawg Greg Poole Truth
Colonial Dawg Greg Poole Sadly that does not seem to be holding true, they seem to be fast multipliers.
Greg Poole I repeat…… The stupid will eventually weed themselves out!
Greg Poole The stupid will eventually weed themselves out!
Greg Poole I saw that yesterday, not good! I am praying for the best but this is not looking good.
Good Morning to Dawgs Everywhere!
My son and his girlfriend sat out in the heat at Nationals Park yesterday to watch the Braves take it on the chin 9-1. He loves to go to a Braves game whenever he can, but I do question his judgement when it is 99 degrees!
Greg Poole If the race were only 40 Justin Gatlin would have won it.
