PTCDawg I agree w/ your assesment but would also like to add that the RB and QB positions will play a roll. If others can stack the box w/ zero respect for the pass and our #1 and #2 Rbs are out or even dinged we could see similar results. Hopefully we can pread them out this year and obviously everyone will look better.

Unless something has changed, we know what we have in Lambert and Ramsey. I say start Eason and give the experience he will need when we get to the Sec portion of our schedule. The Sec championship game is my goal this year. If Eason is our future, I’m ready to get started.

  3. DawgLink

I don’t know what has made them decide to start writing satire sports stories but they are stupid. The other one recently was the SEC agrees to acquire the ACC. A bunch of dummies fell for that one

IMO, comparing this years OL to last years…

Catalina vs Theus: moderate downgrade; Theus was solid, Catalina is TBD
Wynn vs Wynn: moderate upgrade; a year older a year bigger
Kubs vs Kubs: moderate upgrade; more experienced, more vocal
Sims vs Pyke: even; Pyke did not have a good year, resulted in being benched
Pyke vs Houston; moderate upgrade, Pyke looks to be solid this time around, Houston was ok at best
Blaze vs Blaze: moderate upgrade, a year better, better backups

Gaillard vs Long: large upgrade; first guy off the bench is very important
Pittman vs Sale: large upgrade; the potential to make everyone better

overall: this year the OL should be a much bigger plus than it was last year

Bulldawg36 I definitely agree with the guy who’s most ready.  The coaches have a tough decision; who’s most ready, who’s improving the quickest, who has best command of the playbook.

They may even decide that none of these guys is capable of doing more than being a game manager right now, and we have to play in safe mode until that changes.  If that’s the case, then this is probably an introductory year, where we win the easy ones and try to pound it and depend on the defense to keep us in the others.  It’s an option too, if that’s where we are.

Not disagreeing with you but Eason and Ramsey had identical stats. So either one based off that game would be fine with me.

  7. lagadawg

To me Eason looked better in the spring game than the other 2 quarterbacks, he’s had from then until now to get better. I don’t understand why people keep saying with Lambert we have a better chance to win. This is just my opinion.

  8. Bulldawg36

I dunno. I want the qb who is the most ready
Losing 3 in a row in the dome is just another black eye

  9. AlphaDawg

DawgByte TtownDawg lagadawg Most experience doesn’t always mean best chance to win. Deep down the realist in me says Lambert starts.

  10. DawgByte

TtownDawg lagadawg Not only do I believe Lambert will start against UNC, but I think he should start. Starting off the season 0-1 to an ACC team is not the way Kirby wants to begin his tenure at UGA. He wants the person with the most experience behind Center who will protect the ball.
I want Jacob to succeed when he gets in the game and I don’t think starting the game is the best approach. I hope he gets 2-3 series after we establish a lead or in the event Lambert can’t move the ball.

Just listened to the podcast. Huck doesn’t sound anything like I thought he would. Funny how you have your preconceptions.

  12. freddawg

lagadawg I agree, but the question is do we want it to be easy.  Whoever starts has two or three games until the real trial by fire begins.  There’s not a lot of room to get eased into things if our goal is to win the SEC east.  I don’t care which qb starts, but I’m not a big fan of letting them spend much time getting comfortable handing off to Nick Chubb.  If it’s Lambert or Ramsey, then make him air it out, take some sacks and make quick decisions.  If it’s Eason, then he has to be ready to do the same.  Mistakes will happen, but I’d sacrifice the UNC game if necessary to learn where our quarterbacks stand before we play Ole Miss.

  13. TtownDawg

lagadawg  I’m as ready as most dawg fans to see the “Eason” era begin, however, with a game as important as this one,  I believe Lambert starts…just my humble opinion.

  14. lagadawg

I think with Chubb ,Sony and Hollyfield in the backfield if Eason starts it’s going to make his start  much more easier than what most quarterbacks get to experience.

BahitsAgain tmdawg12 That would be a great app if you could do it, but you’d probably have to incorporate some kind of ad blocker in your program.  Looking at the source code behind these modern webpages, with HTML5 and so much javascript, it’s hard to even tell where the fluff comes from.

  16. BahitsAgain

I would like for a sports magazine to have a guessing game where they go talk to each SEC coach and get them to make a wild statement about an opposing coach.  Put them all on a page in one column and the list of coaches in another column and have it where we can draw lines to connect coach to quote.  At the back of the magazine, have the answer key printed upside down like we were in 3rd grade.

Bama, Vols and Auburn fans might have a problem with it.

  17. BahitsAgain

RumRunnerDoogie BahitsAgain PTCDawg btw, I totally made all that up, but it is just as reliable as any “anonymous” source.
Put a name to it, if you want us to believe it!

  18. BahitsAgain

RumRunnerDoogie BahitsAgain PTCDawg Yep, I loved it when that SEC anonymous coach said the exact thing you just wrote.  You plagiarized him!

  19. RumRunnerDoogie

BahitsAgain PTCDawg its to the point where anything “anonymous” anymore i take with a grain of salt, anyone can just write that and put what ever they want

  20. BahitsAgain

PTCDawg I loved the anonymous SEC coach quote that called Butch a brick head.   Things are getting nasty!

  21. PTCDawg

So Athlon Sports rates our LB corps at #8 in the nation. That makes a LOT more sense to me than the ridiculous ‘anonymous’ SEC coach who was commenting that Georgia ‘doesnt have any good linebackers’.

  22. BahitsAgain

tmdawg12 I think I will write a chrome extension that you can hover over a link or ad, then have it retrieve most of the page in a text format, minus ads and other images.
