Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

Love to hear that! If you want to win a championship, you gotta get to the QB! Herring, Bryant, and Beal would be a GREAT haul!

  2. Reddawg13

Avon Barksdale According to his coaches I have talked to they say he love UGA and his coaches are trying to get him here too.

  3. Reddawg13

lagadawg Reddawg13 Greg Poole had we had a dual threat QB last year we would have faired better with the circumstances.

  4. Reddawg13

MMCSDAWG Reddawg13 Every year a team pops up from nowhere. Often with less talent and coaching than we will have this coming year. If these kids start believing and doing the work and we get a few leaders, who knows, it could be us!

  5. lagadawg

Reddawg13 Greg Poole Another reason it seemed we only threw short passes where it was easy to stack the box.

  6. MMCSDAWG

Reddawg13 Why Not Us???   Probably a year or 2 away from NC, but why not us now…  stranger things have happened.

I still hope Bobo is successful at CSU but I think he will be back in the SEC as a head coach. Maybe Vanderbilt or Kentucky or Miss St if Mullen goes somewhere

  8. Reddawg13

bahits Greg Poole and never in the slot with all that speed, or never returning kick offs, geez!

  9. Reddawg13

dsw61 Reddawg13 Greg Poole a huge O line also wears down the defense and frustrates the oppositions offense because they have to sit on the sidelines and watch time run off the clock

  10. MMCSDAWG

bahits Greg Poole Stupidity…  He’s not a between the tackles guy IMO due to him being a shuffle stepper, but there is absolutely no excuse for not getting him on the edges and in the open field.  How many true screens did we throw to him last year???  I don’t remember seeing a true screen set up for him at all.

Dawgnation89 If we got this class it would be incredible…    I think there will be closer to 28 or 29 in this class when it’s all said and done.  I expect a little attrition between now and NSD 2017.  Awesome class especially if we could land Wilson.

My wish list for a 2017 signing class:
    QB-  Fromm
    RB- Carter, Swift
WR – Blount, Jenkins, Landers, Holloman, Webb
    TE – NONE
OL – Demery, Johnson, Shaffer, Wilson, Thomas
    DL – Herring, Solomon
    LB – Beal, McBride
DB – Poole, Leconte, Stevens, Samuels, Terrell
    Ath – Bishop

Stanford Samuels and Isiah Wilson are my reaches on this list, but I would ecstatic with this class. I also wanted to put us down getting Akers too, but I just dont see us taking 3 rbs this class.

Who does everyone else think we end up with?

  13. bahits

Bansai buckeroo yeah, I was looking at that, too.  It is probably instinctive to look at the ball when you throw, but is it productive?  I sure can’t argue with that kid’s ability and results.

dsw61 Reddawg13 Greg Poole I love the idea of huge, physical and athletic OL leaning, pushing and falling on the other teams DL.  If we can rotate our line and they have great endurance via S&C, then the 4th and end of the 3rd should be when we separate from other teams.

It has been the Bama formula.  Sadly, when we meet them in the SECc this year, we won’t have it fully in place for a battle of the Titans, so we will need some finesse to knock them off.

  15. bahits

Greg Poole bahits I think KM changed up his body a lot and was more of a tackle breaker last year.  Wasn’t his ypc the best on the team?  He didn’t get the touches for some reason.

  16. Greg Poole

bahits Replace Sony with Keith in the quote below.

“The reason is that Sony is not tackle-breaker who can beat an inside linebacker and that is what UGA’s inside run game was based on – get a back in a one-on-one with a backer.”

Reddawg13 Greg Poole CMR really does seem to have a different mentality when it comes to the run game. He seems to be content with most of the runs going for no gain or a yard or two; knowing that eventually one of the LBs will blow an assignment; not fill his gap; leading to a big run…like what Chubb did towards the end of the Bama game. I like the idea of running behind a big powerful OL that can string together multiple three or four yard runs; or at least consistently get into manageable 3rd down  yardage to run play action. 3rd down and six or seven last year with Lambert wasn’t very fun to watch. The 3rd down conversion rate last year was terrible.
