MMCSDAWG Thanks for posting. More confirmation that some coaches are better at coaching than others. “Explaining” the “why” behind what is being taught is just as important as the “how”. This is “how” I want you to do it…and this is “why” you need to do it this way. You would not believe the number of coaches I have come across that believe the “why” is unimportant. To make it worse, some coaches will label a kid not coach-able is they ask “why” they are being asked to do something. Some coaches have a “how dare you question me” attitude.

When I saw a clip of Schotty at practice yelling out at Lambert; “use your legs”; I just SMH. That phrase gets thrown around in baseball all the time. Hitters and pitchers hear it a lot. I’ve never used that phrase one. Teach them “how” to leverage the earth…which is really what using your legs means…and “why” it’s important to use your body a certain way to create that leverage…and you’ll never have to tell a player to use their legs. Btw, despite the barrage of coaches that will tell you that you will just confuse kids giving them too much information; they actually eat it up and their interest level will go through the roof. I’ve rarely come across a kid that doesn’t like to learn the details of what they’re being asked to do.

PTCDawg I have been having problems with Chrome and MS Edge both.  Chrome is slightly more stable for me.

  3. Greg Poole

PTCDawg  There simply are no issues with the site. The server is humming along and we have done all sort of load time testing. This page loads slightly more slowly than the homepage but we are talking about a half second.

bahits MMCSDAWG Hines is tough. He enjoyed planting db’s. Even when he wasn’t the intended receiver, Ward was a guy folks knew they better know where on the field he was.

  5. Avon Barksdale

I want Stevens, McBride, and Lawrence to commit between now and opening kickoff.
    Who am I missing?

D’antne Demery committing is a great way to start the weekend. Enjoyed reading the article. Sounds like a very mature young man. Prepared to put in the work. Though he has a lot to work with.

MMCSDAWG PTCDawg years ago, I loved IE.  Now, I am 90% Chrome and only do IE for testing.

I had high hopes for Microsoft Edge that comes with Windows 10, but I abandoned it quickly.  Slow and crappy the last I tried it.

  8. MMCSDAWG

PTCDawg I have totally switched over to Chrome as well in the last month or so, I was having intermittent issues with IE on multiple sites and platforms.  Chrome is much better.

  9. PTCDawg

fyi, in case this applies to anyone else…been having terrible issues on here with IE for several days…finally gave up and downloaded Chrome and it is far more stable with Chrome…

MMCSDAWG Wearing camo also helps as the defenders search in vain to find you… then if they do, you pump your arms real fast so they can’t grab you.

I really like Hines.  We need to ease him in via these camps and QA role.  Then, if he really likes the coaching gig, get him a spot when one opens.  Even if it is a defensive coaching spot or some other thing he didn’t do.  Didn’t Kirby coach RBs at one time and talks about how good it is for young coaches to get broader experience?

They need to commit! Me and the patriot dawg are gonna go have a talk with them and see what we can get done.###

Talked to my brother and talked with my nephew who plays ball in and around Atlanta last night…   He has been to the CMR youth camps a couple of times and has been playing on his teams 7 vs 7 team for a couple of years now.  He’s an OL, but nothing that UGA would ever be interested in.  He’s pretty good and looking at a couple of D-1A schools to possibly play.  He was at UGA last year as well.   I specifically asked him about Coach Pittman…  He said Pittman was hilarious and very personable, but he also made it clear that he was very instruction oriented.  He would not just yell something without explaining it, he was impressed with his ability to catch almost every single move an OL would make and break it down for them to understand and work on.    He was quick to tell me there is a NIGHT and DAY difference in the coaching of Pittman compared to Sale last year….   Not going to beat up Sale, but Pittman is the real deal and we are going to see the difference immediately, he might not have all the pieces he wants right now, but I really believe we will see a much improved and more consistent OL this year!
