Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

Greg Poole Not trying to beat the boy up, and it’s probably just a photo timing issue, but why is Lambert leaning to the right and hit feet are less than 3-4 inches apart????  I know he is not the most athletic person in the world, but dang, and only one with his left hand out of position.  lol

  2. 1mandawgpack

PatriotVeteran bahits MMCSDAWG  You do you recommend firing because that’s the only way to get him on staff as there are limits to the number of coaches a staff can have?

  3. Greg Poole

UGADAWGII If one can not second guess the coaches, one might as well do something else – like work.

  4. Greg Poole

AlphaDawg mSo when 36’s youngster joins us, do we start him/her out a Bulldawg09? 3.6?

  5. UGADAWGII

Bansai buckeroo  I, nor most of the other posters on here, are knowledgeable enough to  second guess the coaches, but that never stops us!

  6. dsw61

AlphaDawg dsw61 Greg Poole The players doing this exercise are externally and internally rotating their arm…at the shoulder joint…which shouldn’t lead to adding much bulk at all. I’m sure the S&C staff also has them doing shoulder flexibility exercises.

  7. Bansai buckeroo

I was going to say all that Chief. But I am old and my fingers get tired..###…… 🙂

WalktheDawg Whisky  PatriotVeteran You can’t underestimate the value of experience when evaluating and determining the best starting group along the OL.  In one on one’s both of those two may be 2 of the better players on the field, but that means Very little when evaluating the best starting rotation.  You could be the most dominant lineman on the team, but if you don’t know your assignments and understand the concepts your of little use in the starting unit.  The OL is the one position group that operates in tandem.  The OL is only as strong as the weakest link.  The 5 guys playing TOGETHER is what matters a LOT more than the strengths or weaknesses of a single individual player.  Picking up complex blitzes and making adjustments at the LOS scrimmage based on defensive alignments are paramount in the success of an offensive line.  This is the one position in upper level (SEC especially) that an individuals physical prowess or raw physical abilities are less important than their understanding of concepts, responsibilities and ability to work together as a cohesive unit!

PatriotVeteran Sure seemed like Pittman worked Cleveland and Madden like rented mules this spring…They took tons of snaps at G Day…. At this point seems like Gaillard has the edge for playing time.

  10. Greg Poole

PatriotVeteran  You are mistaken about their coaches being disinterested in them. Being big and being ready for the SEC trenches are not the same thing. As you become more familiar with the transition of offensive linemen from high school to CFB starter, you will learn that more training and physical maturity are needed along the OL than any other position group.
Both of those guys will get there (they may contribute this year), but their real value will become apparent next year and after.

  11. Bansai buckeroo

I’m confident the coaches will put the best guys out there come game time…. I know I’m not knowledgeable enough to second guess them….

  12. AlphaDawg

MMCSDAWG AlphaDawg dsw61 Greg Poole LOL my comment was supposed to indicate I’m too tight! Makes driving harder when your chest and lats are pumped.

  13. PatriotVeteran

Big Ben and Madden aren’t little fella’s and yet they seem to not get the interest of their coaches and the question is, why?      These guys are really big, strong and seem to do well, but smaller players who are more senior seem to get preference.     I hope they will get some experience and a chance to be successful in playing some in our first game, defending Eason.

  14. MMCSDAWG

AlphaDawg dsw61 Greg Poole Put a golf towel under your right arm pit, and hit some balls with a 7 iron or wedge…  Make at least a 3/4 wing minimum and that’ll tighten up your swing and get you moving the club inside instead of casting or over the top!

  15. AlphaDawg

PatriotVeteran Reddawg13 Greg Poole I think both of our fresh RBs will get some time. There’s no reason to let fresh legs sit.

  16. PatriotVeteran

Reddawg13 Greg Poole HOLYFIELD is not afraid to go straight towards any player and I believe, he will be very effective this coming season.      Let him bang up a few of our opponents and see how he does.     2 RB’s are experienced, but that doesn’t mean a couple of new players won’t contribute to our RB Game.     GO DAWGS

  17. AlphaDawg

bahits Bulldawg36 I’m sure he could call any girl on the cheer squad baby and they’d be okay with that

  18. DawgDaddy

Greg Poole DawgDaddy PTCDawg I will clear the cache, it is somewhat sluggish when I visit sometimes, sometimes not.  Strange.

  19. AlphaDawg

PTCDawg I’ve made it mandatory for all of my staff (37) users use Chrome. Not only is IE a pain, but eventually it will be vulnerable with MS not supporting anything but the latest IE11

  20. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole Exactly Hines….  you learn a lot faster on the field than you do on the sidelines!  I agree, start him and let’s start riding the E-train while we can!  limit the playbook and required reads initially and expand as the season progresses!

  21. bahits

TeeHDawg Well, fully qualified in Missouri is a little different than fully qualified in many other schools.  If Auburn and the Vols didn’t figure out how to get him in….

  22. PatriotVeteran

bahits MMCSDAWG BOBO will probably go for Hines knowing he can get Georgia Players to Colorado.       Coaches are competitive and Hine’s made his statement, saying he wants to coach for UGA and guaranteed he can get Georgia Players to stay in-state.        If CKS does find a way to put him on his staff, Hines will probably go elsewhere.    I hope not.

  23. Greg Poole

PTCDawg >> IE is simply not reliable, IMHO.  There is no reason for it to bog out on this page.  It could be with the way it handles comments – IDK.  Of course, you can always test the site by going to another page on the site that has no (or few) comments to see if there are issues.

People are using this page with Apple tablets which are notorious for small RAM packages. Many of those same folks could not comment with LF.

If you are not doing so already you can install AdBlock+ to further cut down on RAM use.

The only thing that has changed on the site is that I put the video back on our server rather than loading them from Storify. That does add to the load but should not crash a machine with 2 gigs or so of RAM.

  24. PTCDawg

Greg Poole DawgDaddy PTCDawg Greg, I am sure there are others using IE so it is something configurable on this laptop, which is also my work laptop.

But for the last few days every time I opened BI I would have from 30 seconds to 5 minutes before I would get the box about an error force closing my browser window. It would shut down IE completely. I also would get where I could not scroll down or up, a scroll would just return me over and over again to the same spot. Had none of these issues with any other site.

Like I say, I am sure it was something unique to my laptop but it was also unique to BI. Have had no problems with Chrome.

  25. TeeHDawg

Afternoon guys. I just read the story on Darvis Holmes out of Ludowici that just signed signed with Missouri. His coach kept telling schools and him that he wasn’t qualified and wouldn’t. Missouri kept digging and found out he was a full qualifier. Had this guy been fully recruited, he may as well been the top OL based on size and athleticism in Ga. Wish we would have gotten this kid.

  26. dsw61

Greg Poole This exercise in the picture is one of the things a QB can do to improve arm strength. It’s backed up by science…and doesn’t create bad throwing habits. Next time to hear a coach or QB say that throwing from one knee helps their arm strength…think of this drill and others like it. I’m also a big believer in long toss when done correctly.

  27. Greg Poole

DawgDaddy PTCDawg I’m not sure what you mean by ‘trouble’ but if you are experiencing slow loading of comments or other sluggish behavior, you probably need to clear your browser cache. I boot my machine(s) and clear the browser cache daily.

The fact that people who had problems with  BZ on devices that have limited RAM are now able to comment is evidence that LF is vastly less resource intensive – but it still uses resources.
