Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

Greg Poole That is great news and we will continue to pray for his wife and their family!

Does anyone else feel that Kirby is being somewhat more open to the possibility of Eason starting the season in his recent  public statements? Of course, it is easy to find one’s own position when reading vague statements, but he does seem to be softening his down-sell of Eason, IMHO.

DawgDaddy Going to see 101 today. Don’t get too brave and go for 36. Peace, to everyone except Bulldawgs.

DawgDaddy Greg Poole No no no no no, that’s a few Gen-Zr’s who are learning how to play outside, for the upcoming Pokeman Go regional’s.

I had a long talk with Bob last night. Things are going very well with his wife. He said that it is too early to say that her cancer is in remission but she has not had any new cancer cells in weeks.
We hope to have Bob back on board in a couple of weeks.

Greg Poole I agree with the author, ewe tee’s signature win was against an obviously weak UGA team last year.  I hope Chubb and Sony run all over them this year.

When are we finally going to see this conference-title contender Tennessee Volunteers?
We’ve been hearing for years about the influx of talent in Tennessee, but have yet to see any results in a division that looks more like it belongs in the Big 10, than the SEC.
The Volunteers return 18 starters from last year’s nine-win team. That team was so good, it only won five conference games against competition like South Carolina, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Georgia.
At some point, I’m ready to see some results. Many are expecting that this year, especially with the return of Joshua Dobbs at quarterback, but I haven’t seen much in recent years in the passing game. Has he developed as a passer, or are we only going to see Tennessee use the ground game again?
The defense will be good, but what’s new in the SEC?
There is a clear path to the SEC East title for the Volunteers and that will happen from Sept. 24 to Oct. 15. The Volunteers will play at home against Florida and Alabama, and on the road against Georgia and Texas A&M in those four weeks.
Win those and win the SEC East. Go 2-2 or worse, and fail to live up to expectations again.

Georgia a legitimate national title contender?
With a projected conference record of 6.1-1.9, the Bulldogs are also projected to win the SEC East. That model, which assigns every FBS team a rating so it can use those ratings to project the outcome of every FBS game this upcoming season, puts Georgia at No. 8 in the country with a 31.42 rating. That’s up 0.77 points from last year, when the Bulldogs’ 30.65 rating put them 18th in the nation at the end of the season.
In 10,000 simulations of the 2016 season, Georgia wins at least 10 games 45.5% of the time and goes 12-0 or 11-1 — the records that it would take to get the Bulldogs into the Playoff — 18.8% of the time. Those are both the sixth-best marks in the country.
Georgia avoids playing Alabama and LSU — the SEC’s other two Top 10 teams in the preseason model — from the SEC West and is projected to be favored in each of its regular season games this year. It has the nation’s 50th-toughest schedule, according to the model. The Bulldogs are projected to have single-digit victories in five of those games — vs. Florida in Jacksonville (projected to win by 4.3 points), vs. North Carolina in Atlanta (6.0), at Ole Miss (6.9), vs. Tennessee (8.8) and at South Carolina (9.0).
