Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

dsw61 AlphaDawg I also find it amazing that our team held it together as well as they did with the demoralizing loss of Chubb… added to the beat down we had the week before.

Tennessee and their moral victories make me want to puke.

My wife was interviewing yesterday at a elementary school in Kathleen Ga! If she gets the job. I’ll be saying good bye to pelzer forever!!!!!!

AlphaDawg Their fan base will not acknowledge the fact that UGA played without their best offensive player, their most experienced DT; and their best defensive player; Jenkins who had zero tackles in that game and was eventually pulled in the 2nd half. I wonder how they would have done in a similar situation.

It’s really fun listening to them talk about how close they played Bama last year. They completely ignore the fact that Tenn was coming off a bye week and Bama was playing their 8th straight game. The announcers in that game were commenting on how tired Bama looked. Watch Tenn’s last possession of that game…when the outcome of the game really mattered…and Bama’s front seven were manhandling Tenn’s OL.

Greg Poole RumRunnerDoogie I am really getting tired – and sick – of looking at this Butch Jones in his armor image.  We need more postings up above to push this Tennessee clown down the page!

    Where is Bulldawg36?????????????

bahits I’m not sure. My friend used to coach at Aquinas and now is at another school, so his perception might be a little biased against the powers at Aquinas.
They have been THE power in small school ball in that area for several years – beating Lincoln County.
I think Grovetown is going to be an up and comer in GA football. I think they are 4A now and are in a very fast growing area. It is a relatively new school with a good mix of students and financial backgrounds.

Greg Poole Lucas Rogers a bad apple or two in the right spot in the basket can make the whole basket rot really fast.  I wonder who the bad apples are.

Jesse1 Greg Poole and maybe Brice hasn’t been able to step forward like the coaches were hoping.

I don’t think Lambert and his lack of mobility puts him in the plans.

Lucas Rogers  Well, I just got a text from a friend in Augusta saying that the Aquinas program is imploding. Gibbs, Holmes, and Durham all transferring to Grovetown High . He says there are internals issues that the recruiting and money can not fix.

Greg Poole In the past few days I’ve watched Rosen’s first game last year, and a couple of Pitt and UNC games from last year. I believe it’s possible to beat UNC with Eason at QB. I keep hearing pundits talk about how Lambert has seen all the different defensive looks that Chizik will show UGA, but he made plenty of bad reads last year…one really bad one against Vandy and about four against Missouri. I also believe that Chaney and Kirby want to go with a more mobile QB if at all possible. Chaney believes that 60% of throws are movement throws and he expects his QBs to be able to move around, escape pressure, and extend the play; or run for yardage. This is a different philosophy than what CMR taught.

If Sony and Chubb aren’t going to be a big part of the game plan against UNC, the game plan will likely have to be simplified to accommodate the less experienced RBs; which helps Eason. Chaney actually has experience breaking in new QBs, so I expect he’ll have a good feel by the end of fall camp if he can make it work with Eason.

Greg Poole Could be Eason is that good, and the team is getting behind him. Earning the teams confidence.

Don’t tell RumRunnerDoogie but you guys are going to has the run of the place from noon until closing today. I have some business to attend to in Augusta before the Bulldog Club meeting, so I’ll be leaving around noon.

I’ll post any A.J. Green Q&As and/or talks to SoundCloud and do videos tomorrow.

AlphaDawg Thankfully, we are not playing on that cow pasture injury manufacturing piece of crap field in Tennessee.  They should be banned until it they have field that is comparable to a respectful high school’s turf.

  13. Bulltoad

Greg Poole With Chubb and Michel being limited I could see us coming out with a wide open offense trying to spread the ball around.  Eason is more comfortable doing that then either Lambert or Ramsey.

Volnut on 247: I think the trip to Athens is one our guys will really look forward to. No doubt georgia will have a fairly good team. Except for the turnovers last year georgia wasn’t even in the game. We’ll see, has to be played on the field not here.

Hear that guys, UGA wasn’t in the game when they were up 24-3

Greg Poole We have always had the talent to compete at a high level. We may not have had the toughness or the preparation to do so.

  16. Bulldawg36

That’s true Red! A bunch of those things went away after 2005..Like great special teams and great defense. Defense has been inconsistent since 2006. Hope it will all change under Kirby

Smart had a front row seat to how ill-equipped Georgia was at handling adversity when Alabama played them last year: the Bulldogs seemed ready to make sokething happen until it was clear Alabama was too.
By halftime (hell, by the end of the first quarter), you could feel the shift, at home, and that was the end of Georgia’s day.
The problem against Alabama was simple, Georgia used a convincing win over an overrated South Carolina team as the barometer for how good they were going to be that season.
    They shouldn’t have.
Alabama exposed them for the young defensive team they were and that was the end of their confidence.
Smart knows this team will need to learn to handle heartbreak and expectation a lot better if they hope to, once again, win the SEC.

Early in Richt’s tenure we could always count on blocked FG or punt! It was a thing of beauty
