Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

Does it really matter that Nick Chubb says he will be playing on day X?..Great that he has that kind of attitude… But the only guy that matters is Ron Courson…. No need to risk an early return for a unique talent like Mr. Chubb…

Greg Poole DawgDaddy This fish chose not to bite on that one. I don’t see 8-4. I am not predicting yet but it won’t be 8-4.

tmdawg12 Morning TM…  So what’s your legal opinion of the DA’s findings in the Cam Robinson case??

  4. dsw61

AlphaDawg So he’s basically saying that if you’re a young adult who works outdoors in the heat; like landscapers and construction workers; the law doesn’t apply to you.

Greg Poole I stopped reading when he states…

” North Carolina’s defense figures to continue its upward trend under defensive coordinator Gene Chizik, who turned the Tar Heels’ defense around in a big way last season. I expect that to continue in 2016, and that should give Georgia a loss in week one.”

Upward trend?  did he do any fact checking?  They ranked at or near the bottom of every single defensive stat, they have to replace 2 LB’s, etc.  So I stopped reading.

Greg Poole My guess is that if Chubb feels like he’s healthy and the doctors clear him to play, he’s going to want to play more than 10 snaps per game. The UNC game is 45 weeks post surgery. If he doesn’t play in that game, it becomes really tempting to keep him out of the Nicholls State game to give him another week. Then comes SEC play with Missouri, Ole Miss, Tennesee, being the first three games. Barring any setbacks, targeting one of those three games for his return seems reasonable.

Greg Poole Doing some digging on this I read that this was cut from the final version of ChubbTown. Which makes you wonder who pulled the plug

Greg Poole That’s me too Greg, I just want to not have 1 or 2 total head shaker type losses each year.  Play hard every game and they will be in them at the end instead of UGA fans streaming for the exits early.

dsw61 Georgia should be ‘in’ every game. While I do not see them winning all of them, I do think they will play each of them hard. New coaches, new system – having a chance to win every game is about all that can be asked.

Greg Poole If Eason starts I’m fine with an 8-4 season. What’s funny is Hubbard says 70% of the fans polled are expecting 9-3.  I don’t think 9-3 requires pumping the brakes any more than his predicted 8-4. Either are realistic IMO. Notice how 70% of the fans polled aren’t expecting a NC or Georgia being in the playoffs. Sounds like expectations are very reasonable.

Hubbard also tends to focus on the negatives, and brushes over the positives. Retaining Rocker and Sherrer is a big positive IMO. Pittman is clearly an upgrade over Sale. Chaney and Pittman have worked together and that combo is likely a better combination year one than Schotty-Sale year one. Marshall and Rome didn’t contribute much last year; and as for Hicks; we’re not even sure how much Chaney will utilize a fullback. Hubbard also must have missed all the catches made by the TEs in the Spring Game.

Oh…and UNC lost two key starting senior LBs to graduation…which is why I mentioned yesterday how I;m wondering how they will handle Georgia’s TEs.

DawgDaddy Click bait – Summer, things are slow – what to do? Write a story to grab attention.  Note that he included Mizzou as a possible loss.

  12. DawgDaddy

Greg Poole Seems he is going the worst case scenario route with his story, it could happen but I would rather think that all of the games he is predicting a loss are at worse toss ups, so we will will our share of those and maybe more.

I suspect if Chubb is ready for the NC game that he will get few touches. The staff will be very cautious with him.

Greg Poole It was probably just the heat that caused it to spontaneously combust
