Bulldawg36 Hey my brother 36 do you know why they are called the Tar Heels (This Georgia boy lives in NC and most locals don’t know)

  2. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg36 those are really good picks, but whoever is QB i would put at 3 and probably replace mcgraw with godwin

  3. Greg Poole

Bulldawg36  They have cleats. Wet grass doesn’t matter and it did not rain enough to turn the field soggy.

  4. Greg Poole

1mandawgpack  Why do you assume they are not taped or, more likely, wrapped? Most today use a wrap material with tape over.
I doubt that there are more ankle or other injuries that normal. If you remember CMR would not talk about injuries, but Kirby talks when asked.

    1-Eason
    2-Eason
    3-Eason
    4-Eason
    5-Eason
    ####   Seriously, I like your choices, but I feel our overall seasons success is going to be directly related to our QB play!

My next couple would be TT, Catalina, N. Patrick, Ridley, and L. Carter

66DAWGnNC Bulldawg Bob2 1mandawgpack  I was part of the first class that had a winning record all 4 years in HS at Thomas County Central.  When we finally started winning, and were playing really tough teams like Valdosta, Lowndes, Tifton, Thomasville, Cairo and Bainbridge, it wasn’t uncommon to play in front of 5k+ fans almost every Friday night.  It’s amazing what the gate and concessions from those games would bring in.
My daughter is now at St. Pius and we really only have 1 home game on the schedule that is a big money game (gate and concessions) and that was this past Friday vs. Blessed Trinity.  The game was delayed so that kickoff didn’t occur until around 9pm, so the crowd wasn’t quite as large as expected, but still a good turnout that should help fund a lot of the athletic association for most sports all year.

Bulldawg36 Butch Jones moved the App St game up to Thursday and then cancelled classes.  It sounds to me like a recipe for a long weekend of partying by the UT students including players.  You then play a VT team that nobody is giving a chance on a racetrack.

  8. Bulldawg36

Give your top 5 players who must play well in order for UGA to have a successful season.
    1. Trent Thompson
    2. Tyler Catalina
    3. Michael Chigbu
    4. Lorenzo Carter
    5. Rico McGraw
Didn’t list Chubb or michel because they’re a given. We already know what they can do!! Just 5 guys who I think will and need to step up!!!

  9. Bulldawg Bob2

MMCSDAWG Bansai buckeroo Not sure about Atomic Balm, but we had something called Liquid Heat … I believe that is what it was called.

  10. 1mandawgpack

MMCSDAWG Bansai buckeroo  LOL – I remember that stuff.  If the burn didn’t kill you, the toxic fumes would finish you off.

  11. Bulldawg Bob2

Bulldawg36  I would rather play on wet grass than turf. Turf can catch your foot and cause you to sprain a knee or an ankle.

  12. MMCSDAWG

Bansai buckeroo Oh yeah,  Never wasted tape on practices.  if you wanted tape for practice you better tape yourself.   Did any of you guys have any experiences with some rub they called Atomic Balm???  Let me tell ya,  It’s not a good idea to let some wanna be trainer apply that stuff to your upper inside thigh and wrap it before practice for a groin pull.   My junk was on fire within 10 minutes of practicing and you couldn’t wash that crap off, water only made it hotter! ###

  13. 1mandawgpack

Bulldawg36  It could have been the field, but it could have also just been the way that he landed on a tackle.  The QB in one of the Korky Kell games last Thursday twisted his ankle pretty badly and it was just the way that the defensive player landed on him during a tackle.

  14. 1mandawgpack

Bulldawg Bob2 1mandawgpack  Agree Bob – just with Mauger, Woerner and Holyfield all tweaking ankles recently, I guess it just seems like a lot and at least 2 of those players (if not all 3) are pretty important to open the season in a couple of weeks.  A twisted ankle is tough to overcome during the season, particularly for those positions that are having to plant and cut on a dime (RB, WR, DB, LB, etc.).

  15. Bansai buckeroo

Do they still make that product called tough skin that you applied to foot blisters? I think we only taped ankles for games but I could be wrong. It’s been a few years…haha

  16. MMCSDAWG

1mandawgpack  Not really surprised, but your right I’m sure they are all getting taped now a days.

LOL=  I remember those days, they actually sprayed our ankles/wrist with some sticky crap then put the dang tape (non-flexible like today’s tape) right on your bare skin.  It’s a miracle I still have any hair on my ankles or wrists! ###

  17. Bulltoad

AlphaDawg Don’t sleep on VT.  Remember they beat Ohio St who went on to win the National Championship a couple of years ago.

  18. Bulldawg Bob2

1mandawgpack  Don’t know if there are a higher number of ankle injuries this year as compared to year’s past or to other FBS programs.
Feel your “pain” as far as taping of the ankle directly on the skin. Our budget at NHHS was pretty thin as well.

  19. 1mandawgpack

I’m a little surprised at the number of ankle injuries to our skill position players (and I included in that group DBs) as I would have thought that those guys would be taped every time they take the field.  Many high schools don’t have the budget (or personnel) to tape every player, so only the players who actually tweak an ankle get taped.  I remember in HS that I twisted an ankle and the football program didn’t have the budget for both pre-wrap and tape, so we had to shave our legs about 6 inches above our ankles and applied tape directly to the skin.

  20. Bulldawg36

    Biggest surprise- Landing Maurice Smith
Sleeper- Jawun Taylor. Gonna hit some people this year

  21. MMCSDAWG

    Bulldawg Bob2 MMCSDAWG

Good one Bob…  There is definitely a NOTICEABLE difference in our teams physique’s!

  22. Bulldawg Bob2

MMCSDAWG  Sleeper – Offensive Lineman Aulden Bynum. He is up to 292 lbs and has has 3 years to mature. Think he plays a big roll in the o-line rotation this season and as an extra blocker in short yardage and goal line situations.
Biggest surprise – How much of impact the new S&C staff has already had on the look and feel of the team.

  23. AlphaDawg

    MMCSDAWG
Biggest Surprise – Chubb being as healthy as he is
Bonus: Holyfield being a much bigger impact than expected

Sleeper – Same, D Walker – Watched his Snapchat story about 6 times now, He literally flattens an OL and leaps him like leapfrog and sacks Eason. He’s going to disrupt the backfield.
Bonus: Ridley – Showed a lot of skill at Gday and if he’s 1/2 as good as his brother, he will see the field, a lot.

  24. MMCSDAWG

So now that we’ve gotten over half way thru summer practices and are about to shift into game preparation and scouting mode, Who’s been your biggest surprise of Summer camp and Who’s your sleeper pick for major impact this upcoming season????

Biggest Surprise-  I would have to go with Herrien.  I know it’s probably more to do with circumstance but from all accounts that late scholly might be carrying the ball early and often.

Sleeper-  D. Walker.  Something tells me he is going to fill a role Kirby likes of a pass rushing specialist against mobile QB’s.
