Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

AlphaDawg MMCSDAWG I haven’t played this particular shaft, but I do play Callaway products and did see this particular shaft when I was purchasing my last set.  I’m almost 55 and I still play a stiff shaft in my irons and actually played an extra-stiff shaft in my driver until just a few months ago.   From what I remember the Uniflex is supposed to deliver somewhere between stiff and regular, which would benefit a large portion of the golfing community.   Of course the best thing to do is get fitted by a professional, but for the average golfer, even that isn’t going to provide the instant success they think it is.

How Tall are you Alpha?  Believe it or not, but one of the most important things about selecting or adjusting your shafts is swing weight, length and lie angle.  Too many golfer are using the wrong lie angle on their clubs.  This is where I would spend the money for professional help if ever you get that involved in the game.

I am old school and grew up in the game hitting forged blade irons, and I swear, that is the best way to improve your game even today.  If I’m having a hard time controlling my irons or feel that something is off.  I will go out to the range a couple of times with my old Hogan Blades and hit a few buckets.  Those irons with give you immediate and valuable feedback about where you are actually hitting the ball on the clubface.

Anyway, I would feel confident in those Shafts.  The stiffer shaft you can play the better.

DawgDaddy RobDawg I’m not authorized (yet!), but I’m awarding 1,000 points for this observation. +1,000

Bulldawg36 FDR’s Little White House is in Warm Springs, and Callaway Gardens near—I live about 10 minutes up the road from there

Panic Fan Thanks for posting Panic!  This is/was and will always be a travesty IMO!

MMCSDAWG AlphaDawg Alright, my choice of clubs are TM Aeroburners – Hit with those before and really loved them. Was dumb and didn’t buy the closeout deal and now they’re gone (still waiting).
However, I found some Nike VRS Coverts 2.0 that I like and read they’ve got really good forgiveness (which I desperately need 🙂
Only thing holding me back from buying them is that they are “Uniflex” shafts.
I haven’t been tested to see what my swing speed is, but I assume I need a stiff considering I’m 27. I’m no power blaster but I’ve got no kinks in the swing and as I become better I should increase more.
Do you have any comments regarding Uniflex? I know Nike and Callaway use them. These are still steel shafts also.

Greg Poole Maybe they’ll make a second story entrance from Kirby’s office so he can over look all its glory.

Greg Poole That bought back repressed memories of JHC and Matthews that I was hoping to never have to go through again.

Bulldawg36 That’s my old stomping grounds, back in the late 80’s early 90’s!!  Not much going on in Woodbury, check out Warm Springs or Thomaston.

  9. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole MMCSDAWG Not sure, but he sure has impressed so far!  Maybe he has a twin no one knows about!

  10. Bulldawg36

That’s cool!! Congrats to your daughter!! Yeah my wife is interviewing at the flint river academy

  11. Doc R

Bulldawg36 my daughter just interviewed at a small private school there, but looks like she will take a different job

AlphaDawg Greg Poole I agree with most of your post too Alpha.  I am very impressed with the staff CKS has put together.  The one person I see being Kirby Jr. and the one that will be here the longest is Shuman.  He looks to me to be Kirby’s protege, I could see him rising to the ranks of DC sooner rather than later and eventually taking a HC job somewhere.  I am really impressed with this young man.  If half of the stuff we’ve read about him at Alabama is true, he might be the most valuable assistant on the defense.

  13. Bulldawg36

I kind of like it here. Lol. Yeah I-85 can be rough …it was like a race track this morning

  14. Bulldawg36

Durn, I should of packed my lunch then.lol. My wife has a interview at a school here today.

  15. Bulldawg36

Brooklyn dawg must of moved back to New York.. We don’t here nothing from him anymore

  16. Doc R

Bulldawg36 I drove through there last week on my way home because I-85S was backed up for miles—-not much there, but I didn’t stop either

  17. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole I don’t believe these young men’s lives should be ruined either, but I also don’t believe the incident should be swept under the rug either.  The charges could have been reduced with some pre-trial diversion program and adjudication could have been withheld until these young men completed a laundry list of required events including drug court supervised by the court and transferred to Alabama’s system.  I don’t like the message that has been sent or the precedence it sets.  Actually it infuriates me.  I don’t disagree with what Alabama and Saban are doing, but those things should be on top of the legal system and the SEC/NCAA should have a standard by which all teams play under.  The current disparity is ridiculous and presents and unfair advantage much like PED’s or other things that the NCAA is so unified against.   Missing Football games is how you teach a lesson to a football player, period!

Anybody know something about Woodbury? Any suggestions on where to eat? If not, I’ll just google it my brothers

  19. Greg Poole

AlphaDawg I think Chaney and Pittman are happy but either would take the ‘right’ HC job. Tucker needs a bit more time in CFB andI think you are right about Coley.

  20. AlphaDawg

Greg Poole I hope so, it’s getting ridiculous.
A little off topic but still around our assistants. Does it seem like to everyone else that we’ve got a group of guys who don’t seem to want a HC gig? At least in Chaney and Pittman. Both are well seasoned coaches who could have had a crack at a HC job by now. Tucker seems he might want a HC job but from my understanding he had a chance before the UGA job. Coley will probably be a OC in a few years if he can produce great WRs given his drive at recruiting he’ll be a hot candidate somewhere.

    Any thoughts?
