Just ask any coach if they believe there is a vast difference.  I’m sorry but that is just not a valid comparison.

Bansai buckeroo Clemson colors are actually Orange and Purple — maybe they show up in Purple – what a feast of color.

freddawg MMCSDAWG I’m definitely not saying that Lambert should not start, I just don’t like the only reason some people use is turnovers…  Tell me about his maturity and his ability to handle the pressure, his ability to get us into the right run audible based on the defensive alignments, making the right reads based on the defense, etc, etc.  Just don’t tell me it’s all about turnovers.  I’m sticking with my prediction of Eason, but I could Easily see a scenario where Lambert starts and Eason ends the game.

Shows you how young Georgia’s team is:SEC well-represented on Senior Bowl watch list
You’ll have to check out the http://www.seniorbowl.com/watch-list-profiles.php to see the players highlighted, but here’s a breakdown of the SEC representation by school:
    Alabama: 8
    Arkansas: 8
    Auburn: 7
    Florida: 4
    Georgia: 2
    Kentucky: 2
    LSU: 7
    Mississippi State: 6
    Missouri: 4
    Ole Miss: 7
    South Carolina: 2
    Tennessee: 4
    Texas A&M: 5
    Vanderbilt: 3

deer hunting at dawn, then trash pickup duty on roadside , then still make it by kickoff in same change of clothes…..

Frankly MMCSDAWG  Not sure we agree on the “Vast” difference part of a “true” turnover and a turnover on downs.   The turnover on downs is correct.  If at the end of 4 downs you have not achieved the line to gain you will turn the ball over on downs, now, you may choose on 4th down to either attempt to achieve the line to gain or you can punt the ball or attempt a FG.  But your still turning the ball over on downs either way if you don’t either achieve the line to gain or score a field goal.

MMCSDAWG Good post.  If Eason can read defenses, find an open receiver and make quick decisions, we can live with a reasonable number of interceptions.

This is partially due to the assumption that the 30% conversion rate was also due to the OC play calling, missing Chub, green WRs and that all of those other factors will see improvement in 2016.

BTW a turnover on downs technically only happens following 4th down.   There is a vast difference between punting on 4th down and giving up a true turnover.

Don’t take this the wrong way because I like Chip Towers. He is a nice guy who works hard at his profession. But I just don’t know where the ego to say what coaches should or should not do comes from. I can see any writer phrasing it “If I were Kirby Smart….” or “Most coaches would do it this way…” but to tell us and CKS what he should do is a bit presumptuous, no?

I have spent a lot of time reading debates on other sites about our QB situation and most of these debates center around who should start game 1 against UNC.   There are a lot of opinions and some very valid and legitimate arguments to be made for both Eason and Lambert to start game 1.  There is one common theme or meme that is driving me absolutely crazy when people list the reasons or justifications for starting Lambert against UNC.  There #1 reason is he won’t turn the ball over.   That is the WEAKEST point you can make for Lambert IMO…  Look at our 3rd down conversion rate last year at barely 30%….  Look at our performances against Vandy (0-9 on third down in the first half) and the Mizz game.   If your telling me that converting less than 30% on first down is not turning the ball over, then I don’t quit understand.   It’s called a turnover on downs when you are forced to punt on 3rd down.  What the heck is the difference?  Well, for me the difference is, I’ll take a few more “turnovers” in exchange for an offense that can score some points and score them quickly if needed.  I’ll take some more “turnovers” if it means we get back anywhere near our Pts/game production of just 2 years ago.  How many interceptions did Murray throw the year we were one completion away from a NC?  That would be 14  but he also threw for 35 TD’s…   Lambert only threw 2 interceptions last year, but he also only threw for 12 TD’s….   So Turnovers are important and believe me, I’m a defensive coach and love forcing turnovers, but don’t make it sound like going 3 and out 9 times in a row is not committing turnovers.  In my humble opinion that is just wrong.  They call it turnover on downs for a reason.    OK, Thanks for letting me vent on your guys.

I really don’t care who starts game 1, and I’ll support them like I always do, just don’t tell me it all about turnovers.

Bansai buckeroo  That is going to break some TVs and cause people to go blind. There should be a “watching this could be hazardous to your health and cause permanent damage to your electronic devices” warning, prefacing that sucker.

And Seth says after the game they should all go over to Ramsey for a little diving…##

Don’t you love it when writers tell us what coaches SHOULD DO:
The Bulldogs should start Greyson Lambert against the Tar Heels in the Georgia Dome. They should have a plan to get freshman Jacob Eason in the game, say every third or fourth series or once a quarter or once a half. But the game plan and the charge to go win the game — or not lose it — should be given to the fifth-year senior from Jesup.

freddawg He received it in the last 24 hours, but don’t know if that was this morning or yesterday evening.

haws1178  When I coached, I always tried to get out pitchers to check out Bill Hillhouse. The guy is amazing. Hard to get the girls away from the local instructors though.

  16. Greg Poole

tmdawg12 He might go there but he’d have to convince them that he is not waiting for the tOSU gig….which come open at any time with Migraine Meyer in Columbus.

  17. freddawg

tmdawg12 Auburn tends to hire coaches who they know will be “all in” with the way things work in the loveliest village on the plais.   They’ll probably go after Petrino or  Briles.

Best case: Chubb is fully healthy and gets back to his old self, helping every quarterback that sees the field. Eason grows into his own midway through the season and has no problem taking over as the Bulldogs’ starter. The defensive line grows up in a hurry, thanks in large part by the maturation of tacklehttp://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/3915192/trenton-thompson, taking pressure off a relatively new linebacker corps. Wins over Tennessee and Florida help propel Kirby Smart to the SEC title game during his first season as Georgia’s head coach.

Worst case: Chubb just can’t run with the same power and elusiveness he had the past two seasons. Michel’s injury-prone nature continues to plague him, throwing even more pressure on an unproven passing game. Eason still becomes the quarterback, but his offensive line, which has questions at left tackle, is never settled, leaving the frosh running for his life. The defensive line continues to underperform, leaving too many holes in the defense. A Kickoff Week loss to North Carolina stings, but not as much as losses to Ole Miss, Tennessee and Florida.
