Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

Greg Poole Bulldawg36 Didn’t his Father play for Tech ?  I know we love to put down our Rivals but you would think after the BB gun deal he would know better — I did a lot of stupid stuff too – hope this gives him a wake up call.

I will never forget that game. My son played at Marshall that day, and I stopped at a motel in TN. I turned on the TV hust before Bobo hit Corey Allen to tie the game.

Greg Poole Do coaches really get no say in where a player ends up if that player gets kicked off the team? That Dawgsports article seems to think otherwise.

1mandawgpack I mean seriously. We don’t want someone that dumb on our team. Who steals apple headphones anyway. They’re terrible and like 20 bucks.

Greg Poole Alright boss…  That’s about as much Dawg Porn as I can stand in one day!!!  Might have a stroke or something.  Man I miss those days, watching TV but listening to Larry!

DawgDaddy The ‘peers’ thing doesn’t make much sense to me. I understand the comparison but historical measure don’t mean much in CFB where rosters are constantly changing.

MMCSDAWG >> He is a very good writer and a walking encyclopedia of UGA lore. We are friends, as well, if you had not guessed.

Just got a text from my SiL – he and his son riding in car, heard about Clay on radio. Son (4rd grader) says without sarcasm “He’ll probably play for Auburn now.”

Greg Poole We have some Russians join us every year for Drinko de Mayo and they are a hoot!

Greg Poole I say we offer him! He beat the train and maintained balance when he should have fallen!

With the limited interaction that the coaches can have with players during the summer, it’s really time for some leadership to take control of the situation in Athens.  We really need one or more of the more influential players on the team to call a players only meeting and lay down the law that any further arrests won’t be tolerated as it’s becoming a major distraction and putting us in a position that jeopardizes winning games (speaking solely to the lack of DL depth as a result of suspensions early in the season).

1mandawgpack It is sad, I wish the kids would just think sometime. His Dad was a good player too, played at GT and then played in the pros for a while, he could have got some headphones legally.

Christopher Hinton is quick and fast for a big guy, his competition may be lacking but his pedigree isn’t. And I really like Deon Jackson and he is in state. Guess he will have to wait and see what the other backs we are offering do first.

The Clay situation is sad.  I somewhat get and understand the BB gun incident with him and Rochester as I did far more stupid things and never got caught.  However, the stealing is just plain stupid on his part.  I think I remember him being from a good family with active parents (isn’t his father in law enforcement) and usually that helps instill values where things like this don’t happen.

Oh well, the only silver lining is that it opens up another scholarship spot for this ridiculous class of DBs that the coaches are heavily recruiting in 2017.
