Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

Webb announces Alabama as leader per Rivals, I think Swift may be in same boat. We need another WR and RB. Any chance we can go after Chandler?

  2. MMCSDAWG

Bulldawg36 They were an onside kick away from possibly upsetting Clemson last year in the ACC championship game…  They were undefeated in the ACC.  Now, having said that, I do expect us to beat them and if Chubb and/or Michel are ready I believe 10-14 points is probably the margin of victory!

  3. Bulldawg36

I don’t think it will be a good sign to lose to unc. That would make us 0-4 in our last 4 trips to the dome. Unc is not as good as the Boise st team we faced in 2011. Unless unc is one of the top teams in ACC then I could accept us Losing to them..if they are on the same level as ND, Clemson and FSU..which I don’t think they are but we shall see.

Lucas Rogers dawgmum no, the surprise will come the day after NSD next year when Auburn announces the new head coach ###

  5. BenKellam

dawgmum Another guy whos gonna waste his talent trying to play QB in an offense that doesn’t translate to the NFL.

I also like the previous article they wrote.

    1. Defense
Specifically, rushing defense. It still remains to be seen if Georgia’s stud running back Nick Chubb will be ready for the season opener against the Tar Heels. Chubb started the season off last year with five straight 100 plus yard games before his gruesome injury occurred in week six that sidelined him for the rest of the season.
We also found out recently that Chubb’s replacement last season, Sony Michel, a 1,000 yard back last year, broke his arm and won’t play in the season opener against UNC. The Heels rushing defense ranked 121 out of a possible 127 teams last year, giving up 5.13 yards per carry and 247.4 yard per game. Carolina may face a 3rd string running back, but if Chubb is even close to 100% ready, the Heels could have their hands full on defense.

WHO?  I said WHO says Sony will NOT PLAY?????????

Greetings dawg fans, too close to the afternoon to say good morning. I hope everyone keeps hydrated during these 100+ degree days. I found out last night that one of the best friends I’ve ever had in my life has stage 4 lung cancer, if anyone cares to, please send up prayers for “crews” I have no doubt that God will know who you are referring to. Thanks my friends, ya’ll have been a blessing to me.

  8. Bulldawg36

Dawg byte…then I wouldn’t expect much from us the rest of year..because we will be facing sec teams that are stronger in the trenches than unc

JaxDawg I’ll be surprised if Webb goes to Bama. He’s way more likely to get buried on the depth chart at Bama than at UGA.

  10. dsw61

Greg Poole I’ve been watching some of UNC’s games from last year. If Chubb and Sony were healthy, UNC wouldn’t have a prayer because UGA would dominate time of possession with the run game. I still think UGA can have success running the ball even if Chubb and Sony are limited…and if Chaney were to go with three TEs with Chrowder or Holyfield in the backfield…I think they can easily move the ball with anyone one of the three QBs. I’m part way through watching the 1st half of the UNC-Virginia game and Virginia is just chewing up the clock and they don’t have an elite running game.

  11. Lucas Rogers

JaxDawg Don’t see Swift going there, so if he really wants to play with him then…..

  12. dsw61

Great picture below of Nauta, Lawrence and Eason. I have no idea where he’s going, but I have to believe that UGA being the in state school and running a pro-style system is very attractive to him. The depth chart is also better for him at UGA. It’s also common knowledge that Pittman’s O-Lines have been great at pass protection, and I suspect both Chaney and Pittman are in his ear about that. I think Lawrence has a really good relationship with the Clemson coaching staff, and that Kirby and Chaney have had to play catch up; which is why Lawrence’s recruitment is as close as it is. Most elite QBs like to commit early in order to help build their class; which doesn’t leave a lot of time to play catch up.

  13. MMCSDAWG

DawgByte Bulldawg36 It would depend on how the game went overall.  If we look like we did last year against UF in Jax, I would be VERY concerned, however, if it is a close fought game where a bounce here of there goes the wrong way and we lose 35-34, then I wouldn’t be as concerned.   This team is YOUNG and we have an entirely new offensive and defensive staff with the exception of Sherrer and Rocker.   We are changing our entire offense.  So being a little off might be expected.

Now, I honestly believe we win this game and do so by 10-14 pts.  But, like Greg says, I’m often wrong!

  14. Bulldawg36

Let em go to bama. Once these WR recruits see Eason play well in a game. They will turn some heads!!!!

  15. MMCSDAWG

JaxDawg I believe Webb went to the Alabama event this weekend, so this is bump following the visit…  Long ways to go!

  16. DawgByte

Greg Poole We haven’t really examined it, but how bad/disasterous would a loss be to the Tar Heels? How will the Dawg faithful handle such disappointment?

  17. Greg Poole

North Carolina gets another opportunity to make a statement right off the bat. http://www.tarheelblog.com/2016/7/22/12251250/unc-tar-heels-football-georgia-preview. North Carolina should be in the top 25 when the polls are released, but Georgia should be around the top 10. Already, many are predicting the Bulldogs to stomp the Heels, and it’s probably a fair assessment. UNC hasn’t been able to beat SEC schools lately, and their high-powered offensive has been stymied.
Yet, if the Heels can upset the Bulldogs, it could change everything for the season. Fedora will have one of the best wins of his career, boosting the confidence in a team that will face Duke, Miami, and Florida State all on the road later in the year. They’ll be vaulted closer to the national spotlight, and everyone will begin to talk about how the ACC success is finally translating to big-time wins. If UNC loses in humiliating fashion, though? The Heels will be doomed again to little coverage or notice, the third or fourth best team in a conference not respected for its football.

Radi reporting that Bama is making a move with Webb and hinting that we may no longer be his leader?

  19. AlphaDawg

Colonial Dawg rugbydawg79 Greg Poole I think they’re using that space for parking. I heard on the news some groups want to keep it and use it for other things

  20. Bulldawg36

Paul fine comb is predicting a unc victory over UGA. I think him making up with Saban warped his brain!

  21. Colonial Dawg

rugbydawg79 Greg Poole What will they do with the GA Dome when the new stadium is finished?  Will it be torn down or will someone else use it?

  22. AlphaDawg

godawgs678 AlphaDawg From what I’ve read he’s most likely not going to come to Athens
