TODAY’S FEATURED PROSPECTS: The Nike Opening Regional in Atlanta

Nike Football hosts its Atlanta Regional camp today at Buford High School. There will be around 500 athletes competing in the camp. Various 2019 and 2020 recruits look to earn their ticket to the finals this summer in Dallas. There are plenty of Georgia prospect attending the camp in both the 2019 and 2020 classes.

Who’s Going to be There?

Headling the list is a pair of Georgia commits in wide receiver Jadon Haselwood and defensive end Nolan Smith. Both rank as top five recruits in the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Haselwood ranks as the No. 2 player in the country and Smith ranks as the No. 5. Smith was one of just a handful of underclassmen that received an invite to last year’s finals.

There is some speculation that many of the Golden Tickets to Dallas will come from this regional. The roster includes the nation’s No. 1 offensive guard, LSU commit, Kardell Thomas. Nakobe Dean, the No. 2 inside linebacker, the No. 2 receiver, UGA commit, Dominick Blaylock, the No. 3 defensive tackle in the country and No. 2 in the Top247 Travon Walker plan to be there. No. 4 safety Jaylen McCollough and No. 11 offensive tackle Harry Miller are two more names on the list.

Georgia has so many prospects competing for their golden ticket. Pro-style quarterback Sam Howell, who ranks as the No. 1 pro quarterback headlines the Elite11 participants. He’s on the radar for the Bulldogs, who plan on taking one quarterback this class. Other notable quarterbacks include the class of 2020 No. 3 pro-style quarterback Max Johnson and No. 2 pro-style quarterback Harrison Bailey.

So many more recruits:

More Top247 athletes that should attend are receiver Jashawn Sheffield, receiver Ramel Keyton, and defensive end Justin Eboigbe. Georgia offensive tackle commit Luke Griffin expects to compete. Defensive end Derrick McClendon, another Georgia prospect will also be there. Not only will there be 2019 prospects there, but 2020 and a few 2021 athletes. Some notable 2020 participants are No. 3 defensive tackle Jamil Burroughs, No. 5 weak-side defensive end BJ Ojulari, and Georgia defensive tackle commit Nazir Stackhouse.

The 2019 class regional list is full of prospects  that have steep offer lists. This list includes cornerback Warren Burrell and safety Kyle Hamilton. Other prospects include cornerback Chester Kimbrough, defensive end Darius Robinson, safety Aaron Beasley, and plenty others. It’s safe to say the day will be full of talent and finding out who gets the golden ticket won’t be an easy task.

Game plan:

Greg and I will be in Buford all day tomorrow, so stay tuned to Bulldawg Illustrated’s recruiting board for updates, from Sunday’s camps. We plan on grabbing as many pictures, interviews, and tidbits that we can. We have a list of 40 guys that we will try and get information from.

Check-in for the media begins at 10 a.m. sharp and we won’t finish till around 5:15 p.m.
