TODAY’S FEATURED PROSPECT: Ronald Thompkins
Ronald Thompkins is a 5-11 195-pound prospect from Grayson High school in Loganville, Georgia. 247 Sports ranks him as a four-star athlete and is the No. 32 ATH in the country. Thompkins ranks as the No. 37 prospect in the state of Georgia. He holds 19 offers right now ranging from Florida State, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, and plenty more. According to his twitter, the latest to offer came from Southern California on February 23, 2018. Despite being ranked as an ATH, Thompkins primarily plays running back and wants to play in that position at the next level.
I spoke with him about his recruitment and even got some information out of him concerning the Bulldogs 2019 runningback class. Thompkins runs a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash and just shows great bursts and top-end speed. He can make defenders miss and pay, and I fully expect this to continue on at the next level. Thompkins is a major target and has so much talent it just exudes out of him. Whoever gets this back will get a special player.
Interview with Ronald Thompkins:
Q: How is the overall recruiting process going for you?
A: “The recruiting process is going well especially after coming back from injury.”
Q: Which Schools are in the running where you’ll take your official visits?
A: “I only have two official visits set right now, USC and Penn State.”
Q: What do you think of Georgia?
A: “I think Georgia is a great school that’ll do great in the future.”
Q: How hard are they recruiting you? And what are some things they are telling you?
A: “Georgia is recruiting medium. Coach McGee told me they’ll only sign one running back for 2019.”
Q: Anyone in the current class reaching out to you? If so who?
A: “My current teammates that just signed and some that signed a year ago.”
Q: So you’re wanting to play running back at the next level, are other schools recruiting you at different positions or mostly runningback? Is that your ideal position or do you like playing other areas too?
A: “All schools are recruiting me at running back except for Tennessee. Coach Pruitt wants me to try cornerback and if it doesn’t work then I’ll play running back.”
Q: What attracts you to Penn State and Southern California?
A: “I’m from Atlanta and I’ve never been out west and up north. So I want to experience something new, plus I have really good relationships with the coaches.”
Q: What are you looking for in a school?
A: “Academics first, like I want to go to the best business program. I want to have a good relationship with coaches have a great atmosphere, great leaders, and great coaches.”
