Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

Geechies are Africans imported from the Rice Coast of Africa to work the rice plantations inSC and GA. They have their own dialect, gulla.

AlphaDawg MMCSDAWG TeeHDawg I predict we will see a LOT of that some UNC time as well…   There are some tools in our offensive tool box and I expect Cheney and company to utilize them a plenty!  Stay ahead of the chains and control time of possession and we will be alright come Sept 3.

Greg Poole If any player epitomizes the Richt era, its Reshard Jones.. A good player who underachieved at UGA but became a great player in the NFL

MMCSDAWG TeeHDawg We hit TE’s over the middle all day during Gday. Was beautiful

TeeHDawg   I believe with the personnel we have onboard right now, we could see formations this season where there are 3-4 TE/HB type players on the field at the same time.  It would not surprise me at all to see Chaney split our TE’s out and off the LOS scrimmage more that we’ve seen in the past.  I know I saw a few formations during G-day where the TE’s/ HB’s were being spread all over the field.  So i do see a place for Davis from one of those types of formations.

Morning guys. Some we are going bigger at WR, would it make sense to move Jordan Davis there so he can get on the field more? Or dies he pay a substantial role at TE this year?

MMCSDAWG It’s funny – there is nothing new in football. I remember seeing a film (not video) of Darrell Royal teaching tackling with Tommy Nobis doing the demonstration when I was in high school. I was essentially the same technique.

Greg Poole Been teaching this technique for a number of years now…  The Hardest thing to do though isn’t teaching the defenders the proper heads up technique it’s teaching the Offensive players to STOP dropping your head before contact.  I have long supported this technique and it’s been known for quite a long time that dropping your head or leading with the top (crown) of your helmet is Dangerous and leads to most all serious spinal injuries as well as severe concussions.  My opinion is there should be an OFFENSIVE targeting rule as well as the current defensive rule.  As we stand today, the offensive player can Lead with the crown of their helmets and/or duck their heads without repercussion.  If you watch any of the videos on Heads up football, you will never see the offensive player duck his head or lead with the helmet, however when we watch football on Saturdays and Sundays we see it almost routinely.   Even the Great Herschel Walker’s run against Billy bates…  Look at the gif and tell me Herschel doesn’t drop the crown of his helmet just before contact, the only thing that prevented a helmet to helmet collision is the fact that Bates was so low and basically on his knees!

Greg Poole I love the closing statement: “And if Chubb miraculously is able to play September 3rd…we won’t even need a quarterback.”  I can’t wait to see Chubb back on the field, but I’m trusting them to make sure he’s good and ready first. He needs a comeback year like Gurley’s.
