UGA Recruiting Daily Thread
The Georgia coaching staff is looking to add a quarterback to the 2018 class and while prospects like Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence are considered two of the top signal callers in the Peach State, there are also some other talented gunslingers out there in the state of Georgia. Today’s featured prospects on Bulldawg Illustrated are class of 2018 quarterbacks Ben Bales, Montez Crowe, Justin Fields, and Hajj-Malik Williams.
TODAY’S FEATURED PROSPECTS
If position ranking is noted, it is 247 Sports latest composite ranking of the player.
BEN BALES
CLASS: 2018
POSITION: Pro-Style QB
HT, WT: 6 foot 2.5, and 215 lbs
SCHOOL: North Forsyth High School
CITY, STATE: Cumming, GA
STATUS: Undeclared
UGA OFFER: No.
# OFFERS: N/A
NEWS & NOTES: Ben played in 10 regular season games last season as a junior for North Forsyth and threw for 2,005 yards and 15 touchdowns on 166-0f-294 passing. For him to garner some more attention from FBS programs he will need to work on increasing his accuracy and completion percentage of 56.5% and reduce the number of interceptions from 12. He is off to a good start in 2017, throwing for 501 yards and 6 touchdowns to just 1 INT in his first two games against Sequoyah and Johns Creek but still needs to improve on that completion percentage. He is a strong candidate for a walk-on offer IMO. North Forsyth and Ben host Loganville next weekend.

MONTEZ CROWE
CLASS: 2018
POSITION: Pro-Style QB
HT, WT: 6 foot 5, and 210 lbs
SCHOOL: Troup County High School
CITY, STATE: LaGrange, GA
STATUS: Undeclared
UGA OFFER: No.
# OFFERS: 2
NEWS & NOTES: Crowe looks the part of a Pro QB at 6 foot 5, and as junior last year for Troup Co., he threw for 1,370 yards and 16 TDs to just 5 INTs in 8 games. Like Ben Bales, he needs to improve on his accuracy and completion percentage, and in Troup’s first game of 2017, he certainly showed he could be accurate and put on a show. Montez completed 28-of-38 passes for 415 yards, 3 TDs and did not turn the ball over. Crowe has received some interest, and if he keeps playing like he did against Hardaway, I would not be surprised to see that happen. Up next for Montez and (2-0) Troup has a road game on Friday, September 1st against Bowden.

JUSTIN FIELDS
CLASS: 2018
POSITION: No. 1 Dual-Threat QB
HT, WT: 6 foot 3, and 221 lbs
SCHOOL: Harrison High School
CITY, STATE: Kennesaw, GA
STATUS: Undeclared
UGA OFFER: Yes, offered on 11/18/2016.
# OFFERS: 41
NEWS & NOTES: Fields was offered by the Georgia staff last November, and he visited UGA on over the summer on June 12th and again on July 14th after de-committing from PSU back on June 6th. It looks like it is down to Auburn, FSU, and Georgia for Fields. He has taken unofficial visits to all three programs over the summer. While I know there have been crystal ball predictions for Fields to FSU since he came off his visit with the ‘Noles on July 20th, I still think the Bulldogs are the team to beat here. The senior Harrison High signal caller has looked the part of the No. 1 QB prospect with his performances against East Paulding and Rome; although, the Wolves did limit what he could do and forced Fields to turn the ball over twice. Still, through 2 games, Fields has accounted for 9 scores. Up next, the (1-1) Harrison Hoyas hit the road again to take on North Cobb on Friday, September 1st.

HAJJ-MALIK WILLIAMS
CLASS: 2018
POSITION: Pro-Style QB
HT, WT: 6 foot 1.5, and 184 lbs
SCHOOL: Hapeville Charter Career Academy
CITY, STATE: College Park, GA
STATUS: Undeclared
UGA OFFER: No.
# OFFERS: 11
NEWS & NOTES: Hajj was among the top three class of 2018 passers in the state of Georgia in terms of production last season, throwing for nearly 3,000 yards and 27 TDs to 10 INTs. While Hajj is not considered a dual-threat QB, he has 4.5 forty speed and used that ability to also rush for 534 yards and 8 TDs for Hapeville Charter. The Hornets have played two very close games so far this year, a 3-point victory against Fitzgerald in their season opener and a 1-point loss to Thomspon (Alabaster, AL) on Friday. Next up on the schedule for Williams and Hapeville Charter is a trip to Pace Academy next weekend.
