Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

MMCSDAWG Greg Poole and they still havent recovered, granted ole miss is traditionally only good 1 out of 10 years

  2. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole Sounds like something similar to the Reggie Bush case @ USC to me.  Someone paying Momma’s bill and his bills.

  3. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole MMCSDAWG Right…  Played 3-4 years while not being eligible…  Sounds like a 3-4 year bowl ban to me.

  4. Greg Poole

When they get to the deal with the admin person talking about making payments to Tunsil that is going to be the killer. It implies that regular payments were being made from a level above the coaching staff. That will be BIG trouble.

  5. Greg Poole

MMCSDAWG See my post at the top of the thread. I think the test fraud will be tough for NCAA to swallow with just a few schollies as a chaser.

I hope the NCAA isn’t done with them yet! I know they have their shovels ready! Keep digging!!!!!

This is the violation that will probably prompt NCAA to not accept the OM offer of sanctions:

The NCAA says former Rebels assistants Chris Vaughn and David Saunders instructed recruits to take the ACT college entry exam at a specific high school in Wayne County, Miss., in June 2010.
As they were taking their tests, Vaughn and Saunders instructed the recruits to leave blank any answer space for a question they weren’t confident about answering correctly, the NCAA says. This would, in turn, allow the correct answers to be filled in later, giving these players higher scores — presumably so they’d qualify to play at Ole Miss.
As a result, the NCAA says three Ole Miss players competed while they weren’t really eligible during the 2011 season, and one of those players continued to play while ineligible for three more seasons, through 2014.
Ole Miss agreed in its response that the testing fraud happened, though the school was light on details of what exactly went down. Ole Miss says there’s no evidence that anybody at the school with the exception of the two former assistants was involved.

Greg Poole RIGHT!!!  the fact that 8 out of the 13 football violations occurred on Freeze watch makes him look like an idiot to me…  Will the NCAA accept their self-imposed sanctions?  how quickly will the NCAA move on the Tunsil stuff, I see where Ole Miss is asking them to wait until after the season.  Damn that, break out the hammer and crush Mr. hypocrite H. Freeze and his merry band of Lying minions!

  9. Greg Poole

IF NCAA lets Ole Miss get by with the self-imposed sanctions, the next round will surely be worse. Remember the Tunsil disclosures from draft day are not included in this round. Freeze may get frozen out before this is over.

In honor of Memorial Day I would like to send out my personal thanks to all those who have served our great nation (military/civil/law enforcement and/or any type of service to our country)  and especially to those who made the ultimate sacrifice that we can all be free to spend our time here or however we so choose.  Here’s a quote I’ve always liked from Stormin Norman http://www.quotery.com/authors/norman-schwarzkopf/…

” It doesn’t take a hero to order men into battle. It takes a hero to be one of those men who goes into battle.”

  11. MMCSDAWG

ZippyMorocco MMCSDAWG BenKellam It’s a holiday weekend and I probably won’t be around to post much this weekend so i cheated…lol!

  12. MMCSDAWG

BenKellam Mine would be Marcus Stroud #99 for the Jax Jaguars…  Although he wore #97 in college at UGA…lol  I cheated I know, but I still wear my old #99 Stroud Jersey to at least one Jags game a year!

  13. Greg Poole

MMCSDAWG Yep0. Practice is the same grind for everyone – might as well be practicing for Saturday rather than a maybe somewhere down the line.

  14. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole Wish him all the luck in the world, and like I’ve said before, Players want to play and I respect that.  I believe it is better to transfer to a lessor division/league and play than to bust your butt and never sniff the field!  Best of luck to him and I hope he gets to live out his dream of playing college football somewhere!

  15. Red Dawn

Good luck to Jake. CFB is a competitive business, and when you get behind the 8 ball right out of the gate because of a bad knee injury it’s hard to recover. See Tramell Terry, Reggie Wilkerson, etc.

  16. RumRunnerDoogie

Greg Poole that school was a powerhouse forever till a few years ago, rough part of South FL tho

  17. DawgByte

RumRunnerDoogie Greg Poole Agree! Need that scholly for OL that fit Pittman’s player profile.

  18. TeeHDawg

If some of the older players don’t get quality minutes this year as well, they will transfer.

  19. BahitsAgain

PTCDawg BahitsAgain DawgByte RumRunnerDoogie Greg Poole We could have won more.

Schotty seems to be a good person, but he really messed up the offense.

  20. Greg Poole

RumRunnerDoogie Greg Poole  To expenses and then profits to the promoters – unless run by a school these events are a business

  21. PTCDawg

BahitsAgain DawgByte RumRunnerDoogie Greg Poole  yes, we only have our incompetent coaching staff to blame for only winning 10 games last year.

  22. BahitsAgain

DawgByte RumRunnerDoogie Greg Poole With the right coaches, I think Ramsey would have been more than serviceable.   Bobo would have had him putting up consistent 300+ yard games and probably 30+ TDs over the season.

  23. RumRunnerDoogie

DawgByte RumRunnerDoogie Greg Poole probably getting a lot of money on the side from big players to be this incompetent

  24. DawgByte

RumRunnerDoogie DawgByte Greg Poole Lack of leadership at the NCAA. If you make a bloody decision/ruling then stick with it.

  25. RumRunnerDoogie

DawgByte RumRunnerDoogie Greg Poole just look at LSU last year, fournette couldnt run against bama and they folded
