Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

Greg Poole Reddawg13 Yeah, and we couldn’t fry up the tail either, okay you win!

MMCSDAWG godawgs678 Eason is also going to give our team a big shot in the arm confidence wise. The team can also see this talent gap and they know who can make the big plays that win games. Giving a team a boost in confidence is huge!

godawgs678  I agree with you and this was my response to Huck’s article on Eason. Right on Huck! Eason starts game one and IS our best chance to win this year. Yeah that puts a lot of pressure on his shoulder but isn’t that why he came here in the first place? I know folks keep saying well he wasn’t against our first team D in the spring, that has nothing to do with the fact that the throws he made were spot on! His talent far exceeds anything we have right now and one can not get experience standing on the sidelines! Before we play Ole Sis we have three manageable opponents one actually weak, so he will have three games plus early enrollment, plus his work ethic, plus Chaney and that my friends is why all this will work.

Greg Poole I don’t know of any Georgia fans who expect Eason to play like Stafford or Murray from the start.

godawgs678 I agree, but for a different reason.  I truly believe the talent gap greatly exceeds the experience gap between Eason and Lambert.  Keeping in mind, that they are both learning a totally new offense.   I honestly believe Eason gives us the best chance to win and that is my deciding factor.  He may throw a few more interceptions than Lambert (2) did, but he is also going to throw more TD’s and I think the later will out weight the former.

Greg Poole Buford being a city school does not have the same enrollment restrictions as county schools. You can live anywhere in Georgia and go to Buford. Four of Buford’s Championships came in Division 2A, two in 3A. one in 4A. With the new realignment they are now in 5A. Grayson, Camden Co, Lowndes, Colquitt Co., Roswell, Norcross and North Gwinnett have down their work playing in the highest Division. All of those schools have now been moved to Division 7A.

godawgs678  I think CNS is playing with house money this year. Most fans are not expecting a championship, so why not put the ball in your eventual QBs hands from the jump- if the competition is close.
Almost everyone expects Eason to be the man at some point in the season anyway and the climate is ripe for experimentation – just do it, Kirby.

I think Eason starts against UNC. Here’s why…

If Lambert or Ramsey trot out in the first series against UNC, the crowd is going to go crazy. Not in a good way. That will be a serious morale issue for the first snaps of the season. If Eason jogs out there, the crowd is going to go crazy–in a good way. He can hand off a few times, makes a couple short to intermediate throws and not take too many chances.

Also, selfishly for Kirby—this is his first game as a head coach. If he trots out a true freshman QB and we end up losing, most will blame Eason for not being ready and that this will be a rebuilding year so he can get his feet wet. If Kirby trots out a veteran and loses, the backlash will be against Kirby for not starting Eason.

    That’s just my opinion.

WR slots are filling up fast!
If we get Bishop and Webb are we done?  I don’t see us taking 6 unless Bishop commits as an athlete and Holloman commits to the G.

Greg Poole I hope he doesn’t go to AU to learn how to block, we would love  to actually throw the ball to him.
