The Georgia soccer team is set to face a pair of opponents on Saturday in Winston-Salem, N.C. for its fourth and fifth games of the spring season. UGA will face UNC-Wilmington at 11 a.m. ET, before rounding out the day with Virginia Tech at 5 p.m. ET. Both opponents earned bids to the 2015 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship and advanced to the second round.
“Each opponent provides a very stiff challenge for us,” head coach Billy Lesesne said. “We are looking forward to getting out there and continuing to work on our level of competiveness. We are looking at being more disruptive to what other teams are trying to do offensively. Offensively we will have to play through strong and organized defensive efforts, so it will only make us better.”
The Bulldogs are 0-2-1 this spring, but Lesesne likes the progress that he has seen so far. Georgia is focused on two main aspects of its game, intensity on defense and understanding each other on the offensive end, two areas Lesesne has seen his team improve.
Georgia returns to Athens on April 23 for its final game of the spring season, a match against Kennesaw State at the Turner Soccer Complex at 2 p.m. ET. Admission is free to the public.
