The UGA softball team had a much better day on the mound, but two home runs from Mississippi State’s Caroline Seitz was the difference and led to UGA falling by a score of 5-2.

 
 
Georgia starting pitcher Amanda Ablan had a much better day on the mound today as she did not even give up a single hit until the top of the fourth inning. However, that hit ended up being costly as it was the first of Seitz two home runs with this home run being a two-run shot over the left field wall, which tied the game up at two.
 
 
Ablan would be replaced in the inning by pitcher Mary Wilson Avant, but Ablan would still be charged with two more runs later in the inning because she was responsible for the runners on base. However, the two additional runs that Ablan was charged with would go down as unearned runs because of an error by shortstop Lacey Sumerlin who overthrew the first baseman.
 
 
Avant would build on her success from game two, where she did not allow a single run to score, as she would only allow one run during her three and two-thirds innings pitched in Georgia’s game on Sunday. Avant’s lone mistake happened in the top of the fifth as she allowed Seitz to hit her second home run of the game, which was a solo shot over the left field wall.
 
 
Although Georgia only earned two runs in the game, they outhit Mississippi State by a tally of 5-3. However, errors in the field and on the basepaths cost Georgia, and they will have to fix these mistakes if they hope to end this slump, which has seen them only win one game out of their last twelve SEC games.
 
 
Georgia will face Georgia State next on April 19th for one game, and they will play their next SEC series on the road against the No. 5 Texas A&M Aggies in a three-game meeting which will begin on April 21st.
