The 44th Annual Southeast Emmy Awards honored Georgia Bulldog Sports Marketing with a pair of Emmys for its Kirby Smart All-Access series.
Held on Saturday at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead, the awards honor outstanding achievements by individuals and broadcasts throughout 2017. Work was submitted by TV stations and digital media organizations across Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina and Asheville, North Carolina.
The Kirby Smart All-Access series received recognition for outstanding achievement in both a sports program series and a daily or weekly sports program. The Emmy-winning episode covered the Bulldogs’ week leading up to the Florida contest, culminating with the 42-7 Georgia victory in Jacksonville, Florida. The full-season series featured the work and direction of Chris Gilmore, Joanne Stoner, Audra Richards and Rick Fairbend.
“Although the Emmys only allow us to put four names on the awards, this is truly a group effort by everyone in the GBSM Video Production unit,” Georgia assistant athletic director of digital and production Mike Bilbow said. “Without their hard work, and without the fantastic cooperation from head coach Kirby Smart and the Georgia football team, these awards would not have been possible.”
The Georgia Bulldog Sports Marketing series offered a behind-the-scenes look at the Georgia football program during its 2017 National Championship run, which included an SEC title and double-overtime Rose Bowl victory. Leading up to the group’s extensive coverage of each game day, the episode also followed the team through practice footage and interviews during the week.
The recent accolades bring the total Emmy count to five for the Georgia Bulldog Sports Marketing group.
