Georgia divers McKensi Austin and Ian Forlini and swimmer Maddie Wallis have earned three of the final weekly awards of the season from the Southeastern Conference, according to an announcement Tuesday by the league office.
Austin was named the SEC Female Diver of the Week, Forlini was picked as the SEC Male Diver of the Week, and Wallis was selected as the SEC Female Freshman of the Week.
In Georgia’s win over Emory on Saturday at Gabrielsen Natatorium, Austin won both springboards. The sophomore from Castle Rock, Colo., took the 1-meter with 296.93 points and the 3-meter with 356.18 points. Both totals are career bests for Austin and improved her NCAA Zone qualifying standards.
Forlini also swept the springboards. The senior from Warminster, Pa., went 354.53 on 1-meter and 373.50 on 3-meter. Both efforts were season bests and improved his NCAA Zone qualifying standards. Forlini helped the Bulldogs finish the regular season 7-1-1, while he and his fellow seniors ended their dual meet careers at 30-5-1.
Wallis, a freshman from Boston, Mass., won an individual race and was on two victorious relays against Emory. She claimed the 100 backstroke in 54.27. Wallis anchored the 200 medley relay that won in 1:43.38 and led off the 400 freestyle relay that touched first in 3:24.64. She has NCAA provisional qualifying times in the 100 and 200 backstroke this season.
Austin and Wallis helped the Lady Bulldogs improve to 9-0, marking the program’s 15th undefeated regular season.
Courtney Harnish was named the SEC Female Freshman of the Week three times this season, while Madison Duvall and Charlie Clifton were picked as the SEC Divers of the Week following the season opener.
Georgia will compete in the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 14-18 in College Station, Texas.
