The University of Georgia women’s soccer team took on the LSU Tigers on Thursday night at the Turner Soccer Complex in Athens, GA and played to a 1-1 draw. The Bulldogs scored a goal in the early in the game at around the 3-minute mark, but despite taking 34 shots on goal, the Dawgs were unable to generate another point due to LSU goalkeeper Emma Grace Goldman making 16 saves on the night for the Tigers.

LSU would tie the game up at 1 all with a goal in the final 5-minutes to force overtime but Georgia was unable to break the tie even though they were able to take 7 shots on goal.

The Bulldogs defense allowed the Tigers only 5 shots on goal for the night.

“I thought that it was our best collective attack from a shot perspective,” head coach Billy Lesesne said after the game. “I thought that their goalkeeper played exceptionally well and sometimes soccer can be a cruel game. But, we need to be better in some of those situations to tuck balls away. The study we did on the goalkeeper said that she was really good in the air, so we tried to finish balls on the ground, which we weren’t able to do so today. I thought the buildup play into the final third was the best it’s been all season, so that’s the good thing to take out of it. The negative side of it is that we weren’t as precise as we needed to be finishing.”
