UGA Women’s Tennis Team Finish Season with No. 6 Ranking

After their 31st-consecutive NCAA Championships appearance, the UGA women’s tennis team finished the season with a No. 6 ranking nationally.

 
The Southeastern Conference had ten teams in the final ITA/Oracle rankings, announced Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs were third in that list behind No. 1 Florida and No. 4 Vanderbilt.
 
 
Stanford finished second in the rankings after losing to the Gators in the National Championship Tuesday night. NCAA Final Four Finalists Ohio State and North Carolina took the third and fifth spots, respectively.
 
 
Georgia shut out South Carolina State and North Carolina State in the first and second rounds of the NCAA Championships, before falling to Pepperdine in the Round of 16. The Waves are listed eighth in the rankings.
 
 
Junior Ellen Perez continues to play in the singles championships Thursday, while the doubles championships get underway. Perez and Caroline Brinson along with Elena Christofi and Kennedy Shaffer represent Georgia in doubles.
