UGA’s Nick Chubb and Sony Michel are among the distinguished and talented candidates for the 2017 Doak Walker Award watch list released on Thursday by the PwC SMU Athletic Forum.

 
In 1989, the Doak Walker Award was created to recognize the nation’s top running back not only for his accomplishments on the field but also off the field in the classroom and in the community. The only University of Georgia running back to win the Doak Walker Award is Garrison Hearst for his 1992 senior season in which he rattled off 1,547 yards and 19 touchdowns on 228 carries, averaging over 6.8 YPC.
