On what it is like to be a part of such a talented RB room…
“Every day it’s fun. We understand the talent that is in the room, we understand the skill we have at running back and we really train every day to just better ourselves. We’re trying to compete more in the room because at the end of the day we all have the same dream, so we just push each other and keep chopping to get that goal.”
On where he has been trying to raise his game during the off-season…
“I’ve been trying to raise my game with the pass-protection and just trying to fill in all the gaps that I’ve lacked over the years that I haven’t really gotten too much practice in. So, at this point right now, I feel like a lot of the weaknesses I have, I’ve put a lot of work in, in the offseason trying to be able to turn those weaknesses into strengths. I’ve been able to flip to script a little bit.”
On his experience last season and what he will take into this season, knowing all positions are up for grabs…
“Last year going through the season, it was actually great for me. I was able to learn a lot of things from James Cook and Zamir White, just sitting back and being self-absorbent every day, learning new things, because going from high school to the SEC is a big jump. So, sitting back and learning how to be successful in my game on the field, that was a huge blessing for me as a freshman.”

On what he thinks Kendall Milton could bring to the RB room…
“I think our running back room is really talented, and Kendall is a really talented guy. He is powerful, he is smart, he is agile. He brings all the great traits that a good running back should have.”
On his role this spring/the other positions he is playing this spring…
“This spring I wanted to come in and be a leader. I think Jamaree [Salyer] and Justin [Shaffer] and I came in and wanted to set a standard for the offensive line vocally. We wanted to show that in addition to leading by example, so I try my best every day to go out there and give my all in those two aspects. I have worked some right guard and some left guard and some center.”
On what he anticipates the offense will look like come fall…
“What I have seen so far is a group progressing every single day and just getting better and better. That is what spring is all about really, so we want to be explosive in the pass game and explosive in the run game, so we are intertwining those things and trying to be the best offense that we possibly can be in those two aspects. I think that if we can get those two things rolling and keep progressing every single day, we should be ready to roll.”

On how he ensures Georgia’s front seven gets where they need to go before the SEC season begins…
“Just communication, communication. Just knowing that we all got the same central goal, and we are working for something that is bigger than every single one of us. So, we communicate with each other and continue to keep it fresh in our mind. And then we just keep working towards it every day, and if we don’t get complacent on anything and stay lax, and put our foot on the gas, then we’ll be all good.”
On what this spring has looked like for him, particularly considering his shoulder injury…
“For the most part I’ve just been out there coaching. I’ve been getting my mental reps and basically just seeing myself out there, making sure everybody is upholding the standard. I feel like on this team more than ever the players should be the leader on this team upholding the standard – we shouldn’t have to depend on the coaches for that. So, for that, I’ve been yelling, I get my conditioning in at the beginning of practice, and then after that I’m kind of like a coach out there, just getting everybody right, making sure everybody knows what they are doing, but also learning at the same time.”
On where Kendall Milton and his skill sets fit with the rest of the RB room…
“I haven’t tackled him in a little minute. I haven’t tackled him in a little while, since probably like the season. You know, [Milton] is a big back. He’s probably the biggest, but, I mean, I tackle everybody the same. I want to come hit everybody just the same. Our running back room is crazy. Just to have the collective of guys with that much talent is crazy. It’s hard to see, because you don’t know who is going to play. There’s just so much talent with everything they do. It’s just crazy how much talent and ability they have in that room.”
