There are a lot of changes happening around the Georgia volleyball program. When the Bulldogs take the floor for the 2017 season on August 25, there will be some new faces and eventually some new places.

 
One of the new faces is at the top, as the Tom Black era will officially begin. Black was named the head coach in December after spending the last seven years at the helm of Loyola Marymount in California. With the Lions, Black accumulated 127 wins while appearing in the NCAA Tournament three times, including a trip to the Sweet 16.
 
 
Holding 12 years of head coaching experience overall, Black has also worked with some of the best athletes in the world, serving on the coaching staff of the U.S. Women’s National Team. Black was an assistant for the team when the U.S. took home the bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic games.
 
 
Black won’t be the only new face on the squad. Being joined by his two assistants at LMU, Aaron Benning, and Felicia Arriola, Black also has seven newcomers on his squad—all true freshmen and all with impressive backgrounds. This talented class ranked as the 30th best-recruiting class in the nation and will bring an immediate impact to the playing court.
 
 
The faces won’t be the only new things for Georgia volleyball. Once Stegeman Coliseum’s renovations are complete, the Bulldogs will move from the Ramsey Student Center to Stegeman for all their home matches that don’t conflict with basketball’s schedule.
 
 
Although there is a lot of new, there is also a lot of experience on the court for the Bulldogs. Georgia brings back some of its top returners, including seniors Amanda Dachs, Cassidy Anderson and Kendall Kazor. In addition to those veterans, last season’s floor general in setter Meghan Donovan returns after a successful freshman campaign while junior Majesti Bass hits the floor as the team’s returning block leader.
 
 
A lot of change has happened around Georgia volleyball these last few months, but all lead to some exciting times ahead.
