Georgia women’s volleyball garnered a pair of SEC awards on Monday with T’ara Ceasar earning Freshman of the Week and Meghan Donovan being named Setter of the Week.

 

Georgia has garnered 10 weekly conference awards this season with Ceasar and Donovan leading the charge. This is Ceasar’s fifth freshman award and Donovan’s third setter award.

The two guided the Bulldogs to a pair of sweeps last week, the first against Mississippi State and the second on the road at Alabama. Georgia has won five of its last six SEC matches, four of those wins coming in straight-sets.

Ceasar recorded nearly six kills per set while hitting an impressive .433 in two matches. Collectively, she added three digs and a block per set while contributing five aces on the weekend.

The Panama City, Florida native had 18 kills with a season-best .517 hitting percentage against Mississippi State on Friday. Her 18 kills tied her own rally scoring record for kills in a three-set match last set at Mississippi State on Oct. 15. She added 10 digs for her seventh double-double this season. Ceasar followed that with a 17-kill match at Alabama. It was her seventh-straight match of double-figure kills, ninth in the last 10 games, and 20th this season.

Donovan ran a strong offense in two sweeps as the Bulldogs hit .305 for the weekend. She handed out 42 assists on Friday and 35 Sunday for 77 total and 12.8 per set. In Sunday’s road contest, she picked up her eighth double-double, picking up a career-best 19 digs. Her 24 total digs co-led the team last week. Georgia’s 55 kills tied a rally-scoring record at Georgia for kills in a three-set match.

The Dawgs are back in action Friday evening when Ole Miss comes to Athens. First serve at the Ramsey Center is set for 6 p.m.
