Freshman T’ara Ceasar and sophomore Meghan Donovan were named SEC Freshman of the Week and SEC Setter of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced on Monday.

Ceasar and Donovan helped Georgia to its 2-1 record last week, with two four-set comeback victories over Texas Tech and Georgia Tech. The SEC accolades mark five weekly league awards for Georgia in four weeks of play.

Early in her sophomore campaign, Donovan has collected over 100 assists a week, with 125 in the past three matches, good for 11.36 per set. Her team-leading 503 season assists have propelled Georgia to its second-place league ranking in assists.

Donovan also tabbed four service aces last week, as the Bulldogs continue to lead the SEC in the category. Against Texas Tech and Georgia Tech, the St. Louis native posted two double-digit dig efforts.

Ceasar led Georgia with 52 kills on the week, averaging 4.73 per set with a .330 hitting percentage. She and freshman Rachel Ritchie totaled 20-plus kills against Texas Tech, which is the first time any Georgia duo has each collected 18 or more kills in one match in program history since 2012. The freshmen tandem has done so twice this season.

Ranking second in the SEC in service aces and first as a team, the native of Panama City, Fla. added six to her season total of 24, including five against Georgia Tech on Friday. On the other side of the ball, Ceasar registered 46 digs, which lined up for her fourth and fifth double-doubles on the year.

Georgia opens SEC play this weekend, playing host to Alabama on Friday and Auburn on Sunday. Broadcast and live stat links can be found on georgiadogs.com.
