Redshirt junior Megan Spencer posted six kills on the night. Junior Elle McCord held down the back row with 11 digs while sophomore Cassidy Anderson had eight and fellow classmate Kendall Kazor notched seven. A trio of Bulldogs had two blocks each, including redshirt senior Jasmine Eatmon, redshirt junior Desiree McCray and Spencer.
Miscues hurt the Bulldogs, as Georgia had 12 service errors. Georgia also had to answer Auburn’s Courtney Crable and Brenna McIlroy who had 10 kills apiece.
Georgia started hot, but Auburn picked up late to pull away 25-20 in the first set. The Bulldogs got out 8-5 after five-consecutive points that included a pair of service aces from Anderson, as she had three in the match. Auburn answered to force a back-and-forth battle before a 6-2 rally gave the Tigers a 21-17 lead en route to the frame win.
Hanging close with the Tigers, a Devan Porter kill cut the Auburn lead to 7-6 early in the second set. Auburn gave itself some room before a Desiree McCray kill found the floor to set the score at 11-8. However, the Tigers rolled out seven-straight points to extend its lead before going up 2-0 at the break with a 25-14 win.
Auburn got ahead 4-0 in the final frame, making it tough for Georgia to come back. The Bulldogs got within three, but that would be as close as they would get, as Auburn sealed the match with a 25-14 score.
The Bulldogs go back on the road at Alabama on Sunday, Oct. 25 for a 3 p.m. ET contest on SEC Network.
