For the third time this season, Georgia’s Wayne Montgomery has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week, according to an announcement Wednesday by the conference office.

Montgomery won three matches last weekend to help the Bulldogs earn two road wins against Florida and Auburn in the opening weekend of SEC play. Montgomery beat Auburn’s No. 37 Lukas Ollert 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead en route to a 4-0 win. It was his team-leading 24th singles win of the season and ninth against a ranked opponent.

The Somerset West, South Africa native also won both doubles matches last weekend. He teamed with Paul Oosterbaan to earn a 6-1 win at No. 3 against Florida and a 6-2 win at No. 3 against Auburn. The Bulldogs won the doubles point in both matches.

Montgomery is a combined 34-11 in singles and doubles this season and has played No. 1 for the fourth-ranked Bulldogs. Georgia will play host to Texas A&M in a top-10 matchup Friday at 2:30 p.m. ET. UGA will also take on LSU Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
