Montgomery helped lead Georgia to the semifinals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships last week in Chicago. He provided the clincher against fifth-ranked Illinois in the quarterfinals on Saturday. With Georgia leading the Illini 3-2, the two remaining matches were in third set tiebreakers, and Montgomery’s 1-6, 6-3, 7-6(3) win over No. 41 Farris Gosea at No. 1 gave Georgia its second win over a top-five team this season and was also the first career clincher for the South Africa native.
