Gabby Connally, a sophomore guard from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the Southeastern Conference Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Connally is in the midst of the best stretch of her career. She has scored in double figures in seven of her last eight games, including a 29-point effort during the win at Vanderbilt on Sunday. Over the current eight-game stretch, she is averaging just over 16 points per game.
In two games last week, Connally shot over 50 percent from the field (8-of-14), 73 percent from 3-point range (8-of-11) and a perfect 100 percent from the free-throw line (8-of-8) to help Georgia storm out to a 2-0 start in league play. In addition to her season-best 29 points at Vanderbilt, she put together a solid 13-point, seven rebound effort against LSU last Thursday.
This is Connally’s second career weekly award. During the 2017-18 season, she earned SEC Freshman of the Week after scoring 37 points in a road win against Texas A&M. She shares this week’s SEC Player of the Week accolade with Mississippi State’s Jordan Danberry.
The Lady Bulldogs battle No. 7-ranked MSU this Thursday at 9 p.m. ET in Starkville, Mississippi.
