» Georgia hosts the Auburn Tigers at 2 p.m. ET this Sunday. The contest will air nationally on ESPNU, with Eric Frede and Christy Thomaskutty on the call. 

» Sunday’s contest is Georgia’s designated ‘We Back Pat’ game. In conjunction with the SEC and the Pat Summitt Foundation, the Lady Bulldogs encourage fans to wear purple to raise awareness of alzheimer’s. 

» Georgia has won four of the last five meetings between these two programs and owns an 18-5 advantage against the Tigers in Athens. The Lady Bulldogs lead the all-time series, 30-19, overall. 

» Four of the Lady Bulldogs’ seven losses this season have come against teams currently ranked in the Associated Press top-25. That list also includes a trio of losses to current top-10 teams (No. 2 Baylor, No. 7 UCLA and No. 9 Mississippi State). Georgia’s strength of schedule was ranked No. 14 nationally in this week’s NCAA RPI release. 

» Following Sunday’s game against Auburn, Georgia will play four consecutive games against teams currently ranked in both the Associated Press and Coaches top-25. The Lady Bulldogs’ next four opponents were each selected to finish in the top-5 of the league in the SEC preseason media and coaches polls. 

» Junior guard Que Morrison has scored in double figures in three-straight games entering Sunday. Morrison, who placed on the SEC All-Freshman Team two years ago, was limited last season due to a left knee injury. 

» Senior forward Stephanie Paul leads Georgia with 10.8 points per game during conference play. 

Scouting Auburn

» Auburn head coach Terri Williams-Flournoy was an assistant coach at Georgia from 1996-2002, before becoming head coach at Georgetown and then Auburn. During her time on Coach Andy Landers’ staff, she helped Georgia capture two SEC regular season titles, a SEC tournament championship in 2001 and a NCAA Final Four berth in 1999. 

Now in her eighth year at Auburn, the Tigers are 6-9 this season and 0-4 in SEC play. Auburn is led by All-SEC preseason selection Unique Thompson, who paces her team in points (16.9 peg) and rebounds (12.1 rag).

Last Meeting Against Auburn

The Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team led for over 35 minutes and watched a 13-point fourth quarter advantage disappear in a 59-58 overtime loss to Auburn on Feb. 3, 2019. 

Freshman Caitlin Hose nailed a 3-point basket at the 9:43 mark of the fourth period to put Georgia up 43-30. Auburn outscored the Lady Bulldogs 19-6 over the remaining minutes in regulation to send the game into overtime. 

In the extra period, Auburn’s Crystal Grimm hit two free-throws with six seconds to go and Gabby Connally missed a heave at the buzzer in the 59-58 defeat.

Georgia Coming Off Bye Week

» The Lady Bulldogs are coming off their first of two bye weeks in SEC play this season. Georgia’s next bye week comes in between the Feb. 9 and Feb. 16 contests, when the Lady Bulldogs play at Florida and are then home against Alabama. 

Tawana McDonald Robinson tabbed SEC Legend

» Tawana McDonald Robinson, who played for the Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team from 1998-2002, has been named a 2020 Southeastern Conference legend, the league office announced earlier this week. A native of Flint, Mich., McDonald Robinson was one of the premier post players in the nation during her time in Athens. She still owns the Georgia career record and ranks among the top-10 in SEC history with 297 blocked shots after leading the conference in that category in three-straight seasons. McDonald Robinson helped the Lady Bulldogs earn a trip to the 1999 NCAA Final Four, win the 2000 SEC regular season crown and claim the 2001 SEC Tournament Championship.
