Opening Tip

» Georgia closes out its 2016-17 non-conference schedule with a Wednesday afternoon matchup against the Western Carolina Catamounts. The Lady Bulldogs begin SEC play on Jan. 1, when they travel to Missouri to take on the Tigers at 1 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.

» Western Carolina is the fourth SoCon team the Lady Bulldogs have played this season, with Georgia owning a 2-1 advantage against those squads, including a 72-64 victory against 2016 SoCon Champion Mercer.

» Lady Bulldog sophomore forward Caliya Robinson tallied her fourth double-double of the year (matching last season’s total) with a 24-point, 11-rebound effort against Samford. Robinson, who has now scored in double figures in 15-straight games and ranks third in the SEC in scoring, joins Tasha Humphrey, Christi Thomas and Kara Braxton as the only Lady Bulldogs since 2000 to record at least three 20-point, 10-rebound games in their careers.

» Wednesday’s meeting is the second all time between the two programs. Despite 37 points from Georgia’s Bunny Fuller and 23 from Debbie Culpepper, the Catamounts hung on to defeat the Lady Bulldogs, 77-75, at the Winthrop Tournament on Feb. 14, 1976.

» Georgia saw its string of 61-straight home non-conference wins come to an end last week. The impressive NCAA-best streak dated all the way back to Dec. 30, 2008.
