Stephanie Paul, a junior forward for the Georgia Lady Bulldogs basketball program, has been named to the 2019 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, the league office announced on Wednesday. 

The Naples, Florida native has been very active in the community since coming to Athens in 2016. She has taken part and led in many initiatives, including the Special Olympics Prom and Homeruns for Hometown Rivals events. She routinely visits Barrow Elementary, where she mentors young children, and has also taken an active role for three years in Relay for Life. 

Paul has been selected as one of the team’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representatives all three seasons and was a L.E.A.D. (Leadership Education and Development) inductee this past October. Since 2014, she has also served as a Vacation Bible School counselor at several churches. 

This marks the 21st year of the SEC Community Service Team for women’s basketball as well as for men’s basketball. All league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men’s and women’s sports being chosen from 1999-2003. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.
